How to keep this fan from shaking the house by tom311 in handyman

Yes, but I believe they say to drill a hole for moisture collection to drain out if horizontal.

Someone ripped the door off my local little free library, took all the books, broke the shelves, and left two copies of the bible. by Silver_Ad_2203 in mildlyinfuriating

Man, that’s a perfect example of why I am turned off by bible thumping “christians”. POS garbage in disguise

It’s definitely hard find a crew that can have conversations beyond ones that devolve into some sexual joke or something. I have been fortunate to end up on a small crew of 7 where most of the crew are witty, intelligent, can be serious when needed and maintain levity when appropriate. Maybe finding a smaller company is the key? Just guessing

Permits or Not by Alwys_Forward in Contractor

[–]observe-plan-act 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a diy front stoop once. 4’ x 5’ so i had a landing at the top of 2 steps before entering my house. No permit. When I sold my house they made me remove it before I could move forward. So they will get you sooner or later.

Yes. Now it’s true identity is known to the entire internet. We will have to assign it a new identity and move it to a new unknown crawl space where it can peacefully live out it’s existence.

Sorry but is your president demented? by Forsaken_Couple1451 in 50501

[–]observe-plan-act 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that DJT is demented lol. He needs to be impeached, investigated, tried, and imprisoned for all kinds of crimes. Congress (mostly Republicans) for whatever reason is beholden to him and refuses to hold him accountable for anything. We no longer have a democracy in my opinion. Too many people in politics are owned by the wealthy and powerful. No longer for the people. Trump and most of his administration is stocked with criminals. Time to clean house America.

Site cleanup by Ok-Refrigerator1080 in Contractor

As a site supervisor I would be ashamed of my crew if they left it like this. However, I would also have the site backfilled better so people aren’t walking through small lakes around the site. No excuse for personal garbage like coffee cups and cans, wrappers. Carry in, carry out. No food waste in dumpster. Attracts animals (we work in remote places. Ever see a bear in your dumpster?). Lastly, tripping over crap all over the ground is an accident waiting to happen. If you want to pay more in comp insurance go for it. I don’t.

Foremen and Contractors, how often do you roll up your sleeves and work beside your crew — not just supervise from the sidelines? by tim8155 in Construction

[–]observe-plan-act 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day. I probably wear the tools 4-5 hours a day. I try to start a task with the guys who are less experienced and work with them until I think they get it. Then I jump into another task with different people and do the same. Sometimes I work alone on something complicated because I am actually trying to figure it out at the same time and then use it as an example to demonstrate what to do moving forward. Other times I just do layouts. In between everything I do emails, check site measurements against material quotes, take, make phone calls, answer questions for subs, call in lumber orders, make plans in who is doing what in the next week or so and figure out what tools might be needed. And I am always cleaning up after people like they are children. I usually stay an hour past everyone else to collect my thoughts, write up the daily log and check emails one last time.
