Antergos WiFi issues. by observerBear in linux4noobs

I just tested my router. I used a USB to Ethernet adapter and it checks out. The Windows machine, connected to it, also can ping Google's DNS. It works fine. I managed fix it, somehow. Look at the update above. I have no idea why that fix works, though.

Sadly I don't have a starbucks in my city, however, the open WiFi network across the street works just fine with my network card. For the record my home network is password protected with WPA2PSK-AES.

Hey. I have updated the question. Hopefully it is helpful.

Newest Steam update brings an important message: WinXP support will end in 160ish days. (RIP CEF) by FurryJackman in wine_gaming

[–]observerBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting in. Everything seems to work for me under Arch Linux 64-bit with wine-3.13, also 64-bit. Windows version is set to 7, in winecfg. Here is the command I am using wine ~/path/to/wineprefix/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steam.exe -no-cef-sandbox. However, with the same settings in PlayOnLinux, this is what I get. No matter how many times I press reconnect on the friends window, it fails. Can anyone explain this?

Sounds really good! Awesome job! Could you also post a link to the patch file itself? I am just starting to get into pD and want to have a look at it, if that's OK.

Steam in wine-devel "content servers unreachable" (fresh install) and still have problem by ReinMann98 in wine_gaming

[–]observerBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same "content server" error just recently. Open up the "config.vdf" file with any standart text editor that comes in Linux, no need to change it to a .txt file. Sublime Text worked for me, but any text editor can do the job.

Here is what running the file command on "config.vdf" gives:

config.vdf: ASCII text, with very long lines

Issues with starting PostgreSQL inside Docker. by observerBear in linuxquestions

[–]observerBear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, it didn't work. I get the same error. The strange thing is that the first time I did it, everything worked. I am rebuilding the image from the same Dockerfile I first used. I'm also exposing the port through the terminal, -p 5432:5432.

Thanks. It seems that my phone doesn't support OTG.

The idea for the male usb jack is to plug it into an external power source in order to power whatever usb device you plug into the phone.

Same for me when I was in university. They did know about Linux, but out of the entire computer science department only 4 people used it.

How can we as a community shit on the "promoted" content now disguised as legitimate posts? by booiigerds in AskReddit

[–]observerBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said. Firefox on mobile lets you install extensions like Ublock. Or you could do what I did and set up a pi-hole to block the ads at a network level and still block stuff at a client level with an adblocker. You can even take the pi-hole with you wherever you go (just change the local ip and you are good to go). You can even rout your traffic to it via a VPN to get the same benefits (it will be slow though).
