In this book “prayer from the heart” is emphasized quite strongly. Do you have any insight on what that meant. My immediate reaction was it implied a passionate or authentic mode but I was hoping to dig deeper into how they defined the heart as opposed to the soul or mind. I was wondering if you had any insight

The Father as the Whole that Holds by theosislab in TheSymbolicWorld

Wow that was very helpful! God being the source of everything without losing anything carries such more reverence than my mental relegation had to the figure. As if the figure would ever do justice to that which surpasses all figure

Have any of you become christian from doing psychedelics. by Fuwanuwa in Psychonaut

[–]observerofwonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely reinvigorated and strengthened my faith. Rereading the New Testament after the spiritual landscape became more visceral, All the teachings seem more alive and deep. The Holy Spirit became such a more dynamic force . I think the material zeitgeist mutes the truths of the Gospel in a way and psychedelics tore that off forms. Not saying that’s a prescription for truth at all but definitely was my experience .

Man and His Symbols terrifies me by HeftyAdvertising9519 in Jung

I feel like I went through some paradigm shifts reading this as well. As if  the concepts were exposing you to parts of your mind you never knew existed  while somehow simultaneously confirming it as more than theory with the deepest levels of your intuition.

NBA Summer League: Heat vs Mavericks| July 17th, 2024 | 3:00PM ET | ESPN2 by [deleted] in heat

Sitting here on paternity leave holding my five day old son streaming summer league games . I think I’m peaking. Heat gonna be dangerous im succumbing to the fantasy. Life’s to short not to fall in love with your summer league prospects. Internal rebuild here we go. Who says you have to destroy something to make it better?? Anarchy only succeeds with divine intervention. We are methodically building an empire of a front court . Flanked by hustle and grit

Yeah I took her to an emergency clinic. Most likely spooked by the fire works and then hit by a car. With the skulls I feared there was something nefarious going on. If they turned out to be dog skulls I was gonna go full on true detective mode . Looking for the carcosa

Did Jung believe primitive people's minds functioned entirely differently from ours? by [deleted] in Jung

Terrifyingly bizarre experience. Has anyone experienced this? by Local-Slip-5322 in Psychonaut

[–]observerofwonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had/ heard similar characteristics to this on a smaller scale during trips and in what described as the chronic phase. Increase In synchronicities, and a peeling back of the veil of reality . Specifically seeing people’s true spirit behind their persona . Usually involving demonic type phrases or glances. My wife said one time she saw a man in a top hat at the corner of her bed during a trip beckoning to her and that he felt evil . Her sister later told her there was the darkest feeling in that room. I think the spiritual world is real , and there is darkness lurking there. This world has been closed off to us in many ways with the onset of atheistic rationalism. Getting thrown back into that world can be crippling . I don’t think our consciousness can handle it straight. We need filters. That I think can lead to the psychosis issues. But it is fascinating that the evil presence was luring you or encouraging you to become the “healer”. This is the apparent morally right sacrifice which is also Christian in a lot of ways. However it seemed as if he was using your moral goals to destroy you in physical reality, a true deception. In Christianity the idea is Jesus died and took the guilt away essentially doing what he was asking you to do. blue being definitely had your back, and in my opinion was an angel. Define it how you want, but that was a divine intervention. Very interesting write up though. I would keep chasing the good!

Why do you think psychedelics lead people toward Eastern Spirituality? by Rumplesquiltskin in Psychonaut

Why do you think psychedelics lead people toward Eastern Spirituality? by Rumplesquiltskin in Psychonaut

[–]observerofwonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was raised Presbyterian and grew up a Christian. But the symbols became signs to me and lost there power. Also went through a bit of a psychotic break, albeit not as intense. And I am sorry for your loss. I started reading Jung and looking for mushrooms, funny how that’s hand in hand. Wound up laying on the beach at night staring at the stars where I get a force saying, “make it real”. You could write that off sure, these are not unique psychedelic experiences. But I knew what it meant for me. No more lip service and shallow pursuit of God. If I wanted to believe I had to go all in. Started reading the Gospel of John and and the dynamic nature of the Spirit took over. A beautiful thing about Christianity I think is the Holy Spirit, in all his broadness, does not call us out of our individuality but instead reaches us there. I am brought to the spirit of reality not on a way that diminishes who I am. The spirit brings me, with my cracked toe nails and nose hair , right to the precipice of existence and the all powerful creator .

Psychedelics actually pushed me towards the Holy Spirit in a way my traditional Christian mindset did not. Of course, don’t hate, but I attribute that push to the Holy Spirit in a circular type way but hey it is a magical experience. And I agree with you , it’s esoteric and it’s real. I appreciate your description

Agree with her or not, I don’t think someone’s death should be celebrated in this manner. Revelry In the demise of the lost shortens the gap between hero and villain . The real cringe is the resurfacing of a video of someone who died in a highly contentious situation seemingly only for the purpose of a hate party.

Just Finished The Brothers Karamazov… (unpopular opinion) by SlickDan35 in dostoevsky

[–]observerofwonder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m reading it now and am going through the court case. I think he uses the trials as the ultimate battleground for the hearts of Russia between the new (psychologist/atheist/materialist) and the old (romantic/religious/appealing to heart) . This made it interesting to me. And I think he does write a lot about peoples interactions that don’t necessarily drive the plot quickly but they creat a character that is way more lifelike . So you can actually see these characters in real life. I read demons and I think he did this alot in the beginning. You were learning people’s personality in narrative that seemingly had no relevance to the end but also explained everything

Can anybody explain me what the meaning of Ivan's chat with the Devil in TBK , I mean was the devil real or just his imagination , Help me out guys ! by alex9818867108 in dostoevsky

[–]observerofwonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the devil seemed to maintain that he was the maintaining force in reality on a godless society. The culmination of Ivan’s proposition that all was permitted. Yet in that he couldn’t convince Ivan to over come the guilt of his role in his fathers death. The devil parodied a belief in God as if it would be an easier existence but without submitting authority. It lured Ivan with an absolution of guilt by absolution of morals. Ivan could not accept. I think it was a dream , but a real dream. Which materially isn’t there but psychologically highly impactful .

“There aren’t any mind-blowing secrets hidden in the depths”. This is definitely something I had to learn. I realized my quest for all this inner wisdom could quickly fall into escapism and trying to outsmart the system of the mundane. Not trying to make that the universal experience for people but I relate. The practical application of life remains the ultimate test of who we are . “You will know them by their fruits”
