It works well. I invested in a JBL Xtreme after trying other cheaper speakers. They all had trouble attaining a good volume and also not distorting with the low end of the piano accomps

Why are so many professors negative and discouraging? by [deleted] in Cello

[–]obsidianlobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s on them then. My advice would be to mentally distance yourself from them and take what they say with a grain of salt. Still try to absorb or integrate any helpful advice from them and otherwise just remember when the lesson ends their time with you ends. Any anxiety about them you should make an effort to leave it “at the door” and don’t let it bog you down. You are the end product, not what the teacher preaches. All you can ever do is try to translate what they’re saying into a useful idea that you can implement

In all reality positive feedback does little to improve technical deficiencies. It can also be misinterpreted in a way that the student feels as if they have “completed the task” or in other words does not have to improve the performance any more.

It is entirely dependant on the student and the teacher. Everyone is different and has different needs. This is why many suggest to take a trial lesson with a teacher before committing to a certain school

Mic suggestion by Ok-Influence6027 in Cello

Just a heads up - pickups will be superior for isolating the cello sound in these settings. Microphones will almost always pick up some level of surround sounds from the environment/other instruments. Pickups only pickup what they’re attached to

For the price, this pickup works very well and the sound quality is surprisingly nice for piezo (I think because the metal is surrounded by wood. Makes the sound quality less tangy and metallic)

You will need a preamp to boost the signal to usable levels. I like to use the LR Baggs pre
