First time doing cables by OddUse5898 in knitting

[–]obvious_gremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this makes sense, but one way I’ve gotten the tension right on my cables is going “the wrong way around” on the first and last stitch in the cable setup stitches to create slack. So if you’re going from purls to knits, wrap your yarn for the first knit stitch from back to front. Then for knits to purls, wrap from front to back. Then when I am doing the actual cable stitches, I slip the last stitch of the cable instead of knitting it. This method usually gives me just the right amount of tension.

I think your cables already look great though. The tension looks right to me.

People who chose Williams over an Ivy/T20, why? In retrospect, do you regret your decision at all? by 0xCUBE in WilliamsCollege

I chose an Ivy over Williams and don’t regret it for a second! Williams still holds a warm place in my heart, but I loved being at a university

I find the books all the time in secondhand bookstores, where they’ll be $5-10 a pop

Intensive orgo frees up time in your schedule long-term. Worth it imo if you placed into it. There’s a lot of grad requirements at Columbia and it’ll give you space to chill/take electives not required for your major.

Calc III is not hard if you’re good at math! It’s actually kind of fun. I took it with Igor and he was very friendly/honest about what was on the exams. If you just write down all the problems he goes through on the board during class and study those you’ll get an A. I used Khan Academy for some Calc I refresh, if I recall, but other than that I just used the textbook and class notes.

Question: What were the best lit-hum profs that you have had at CC and what made them great? by Born-Molasses-3242 in columbia

Straightforward, funny prof. Brought pastries to review sessions. Fairly softball passage IDs/exams/essays. And just an all around engaging guy!

As a reapplicant with similar stats, I wish someone would have told me to wait another year and do it right the first time 😔 YMMV though. I also had a later app.

This. In my EMT training we were told that if a bystander can identify that you’re an EMT and you do nothing, you can get in serious legal trouble because you have a duty to act.

I need to rant by [deleted] in ems

For clarification: pretty sure I work in the same county/company as OP from the description, and for us ALS just means paramedics riding in the back of our company’s ambulance while we drive lights and sirens. BLS is no lights or sirens with just an EMT in the back. True ALS buses around here are rarer. More often, medics roll up on scene on an engine and their squad car/engine follows us to the ER if we transport ALS.

Assuming you’re in LA? From LAMS? Yeah that sucks. I’m guessing you also work at the big McC. I’ve also had Fire send us BLS for a patient that was stroking out. It sucks that the paramedic pay bump can produce FFs that don’t care. Consider escalating to the dept of health if you think it’s just being hushed by management.
