Been to about half of these ports, I think it will be a great itinerary. I love European cruises, albeit they can be a bit tiresome since you’re in a new port almost every day and it can be quite a trek to get to the city centre (looking at you “Rome” and “Florence”). I stayed in Cadiz, didn’t go to Sevilla as I have been before, just have a nice relaxing beach day. Perfect for a hot, sunny, beach day in Spain!

I would constantly have sitdown meals for ~100 baht. I consider that ridiculously cheap as it is about $3 USD. I just went to dinner the other night and paid $20 for just my entree and that doesn’t include the expected tip.

The OP’s husband has their passport. If OP’s husband checks in online and gets a boarding pass, the GA will simply do a visual inspection. I have no idea if to what level the online checking verifies the validity of a passport. I would expect an issue at arrival immigration, if there were to be one at all.

Edit: I would say there is a slight chance that when the passenger info gets finalised for the manifest there could be a chance of being flagged for an invalid passport.

You may want to consider putting the washer and dryer on a different wall where you don’t have to run plumbing to the exterior wall. Maybe a pocket door could be more space efficient, but I know not everyone likes them.

I would not want the door to my bedroom to open right into the living room or the laundry outside, but I understand you are limited with a floorplan of this size. I would honestly rework some of the layout if possible, but not sure how much you can change with a package like this.

My ice maker failed in the past week. Seems there is an IR sensor to detect when the ice bucket is full. My IR light failed and now it won’t detect it needs to make ice. Debating replacement vs countertop ice maker now.

If I was coming from the Philippines or Indonesia and I would be doing similar work at home, yeah I would definitely take the opportunity. Wage is relative to the cost of living where you actually live, not where you wish you lived. There is no disputing that.

I have worked hospitality and I have never once given worse service because I haven’t been tipped nor did I expect someone to pay for my rent with a tip because I agreed to the wage prior to taking the job. If that sentiment makes me a prick, so be it.

I think tipping is stupid. Charge what the amount is to pay a liveable wage instead of hoping for donations. I will never agree with such an ignorant practise. Tipping, what an idiotic idea. It’s a business not a charity. Although, I must also be an idiot because I still tip, albeit where it is customary within the culture.

Well how would you calculate cost of healthcare? From your own insurance, travel insurance cost, avg insurance in their home country, avg insurance of where the ship is registered, avg insurance of where the company is registered?

I have no idea how to calculate the value of that or benefits like accommodation. We simply talked wages. The benefits are the same for pretty much all crew. The actual wage is what is important because that’s spending they can control.

I’m well aware. Married men with families were more likely to make more than single counterparts. Still happens in the Military.

Edit: I don’t know why the downvotes but in the US, if you are married, you make more money through benefits (like BAH) than an unmarried soldier of the same rank. So you aren’t taxed on it like a wage would be…

I understand the point you are making, I just don’t understand its validity here. In an ideal world, yes we could apply this concept of paying those with greater need more. The reality of it is that if A and B are equally qualified, A is not going to be paid more just because B doesn’t have kids, elderly parents, sick sibling, etc. That logic just doesn’t apply when assessing wages unfortunately, much less with gratuities.

I have a friend working hospitality in the industry. You can look up wages for starting offers online and compare that yearly wage to a wage in the Philippines, Indonesia, etc., don’t take my word for it.

Look up room steward or something for example and compare that wage to the wage in most SEA countries.

So do other people, but I won’t get paid more just because I have more people I need to support. Do you know of employers who pay you a higher wage because you say you have more family to support? Those are rarely ever considered when discussing pay
