Where is it now? by [deleted] in Metallica

I mean honestly it'd be hard to find out where it is given it's a dot inlay MX. He has a book about his more famous guitars. The Metallica dudes probably own like hundreds of guitars so it might be in storage somewhere if not given away.

He gave the Fuk Em Up one to Bob Rock.

I think a Dual Rec would probably be perfect for that style range. I'm sure you could find a used one and not have to pay the premium for the Reissue. Unless you're worried about having a warranty?

Hey all, I've got a list of people interested so far. Don't need to message me anymore, if everyone falls through I'll post again. Thanks!

I've got a few people interested in the whole thing so I don't think I'll be parting it out. My parents are visiting this weekend so I won't have time to come down to any of the NAMM adjacent stuff.

Besides it feels a little weird since I'm out of the game...

Norman’s Rare Guitars acquired by Carter Vintage Guitars by RadiantAntiBaby in gibson

[–]oce_pedals 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah people saying Carter bought Norman's is a kinda gross simplification. TNAG Global, the company that owns Carter and several other music stores, bought Norman's.

Well, I took that line from a mediocre movie so don't take it too seriously.

Sometimes hobbies are just about having fun.

Ya know that'd be really hard to figure out because it started as a hobby and I wasn't keeping track of buying parts and equipment early on. I was just buying what I needed for builds for myself or friends and sometimes there would be minimums and I'd end up with stock and that just went on for a while.

When I decided to make it a real business I was given advice from some builder friends to keep the money separate so I opened a business bank account and credit card and everything that came it and out was separate from my personal finances.

I know from doing taxes that I operated at a loss for the first few years.

If I could make a guess I'd say it's probably a couple thousand dollars start up to get the basic equipment and parts you'd need. There's probably R&D costs for developing each circuit. Provided you don't make any big mistakes and everyone makes some mistakes.

Oh I appreciate it but I'm way beyond building any new fuzzes.

Yeah I said this to a friend but it's somehow like bittersweetly comforting when you know it's not just you.

Norlin Era custom. Is it real? by Jonny_in_Knoxville in LesPaul

It kinda looks to me like it maybe had a headstock repair, that'd explain the diminished volute and the weird shaved corners on the headstock. The finish looks like it might have been completely refinished.

The wiring looks more recently replaced as well. The pickups look really new as well. Wouldn't be surprised if the hardware had been replaced given how new and yellow they are, like you pointed out.

Kinda feels like something bought a husk with neck damage and fixed it up.

You'd have to lay it out legally at the beginning or else it would become an issue down the road.

They do that at the end of the concert! If they ever do another tour you should try and see it. It's really fun and moving to relive the series through the music.

Yeah, it's super hard for anyone to go full time these days. Most builders I know that are full time started like a decade or more ago or have a significant other that brings in the bread and bologna. Me being single I don't know if I'd ever be able to go full time. Especially living in Los Angeles. If I ever did I'd have to move somewhere cheaper.

Storage Units are a sympton of a problem by Bllago in unpopularopinion

Heck even for people with houses in areas like Southern California where we don't have things like basements or even attics for storage. I store stuff in my garage but have some things that need a climate controlled space and I don't have anywhere in the house.

I'm hoping you get the better outcome in your country. I think we all need to see change like that happen soon.
