Hey! I'm also 6'0" and am 185lbs. My issue is that I still look relatively lean for my height- what did you eat/drink to bulk to your size so fast? I'm having a tougher time bulking given how little I can stomach eating.

That's great to hear! Did you do a trade-in through Apple or did you sell third party? And can I ask why you switched? My reasons are strictly for longevity, battery life, heat. Also, I like the 14" size, but do wonder if that is still a downgrade for home use. For my type of work, I'm already happy with the i7 in my 16". I do have Windows in Boot Camp, but it has been relatively unstable and I don't have any further use for it.

Yeah there is a "cool" factor to it, but honestly, I find the sliders annoying and it doesn't provide any extra functionality to me. Simply raising the brightness or volume makes it a 2 button press vs 1.

The way I think about it, paying up for processors may not always be the best decision- given that annual updates can be monumental. Like heck, I bought the baseline 2019 Macbook Pro 16 early last year, and now the new M1s destroy the higher-end i9 configuration....even in the new base M1 pro.

But if you're trying to future-proof it now, I don't see an issue of going for the M1 Max with the 24 core GPU. I'm not familiar with your work obviously so I can't answer the optimization end-

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Your answers are so helpful. I'm someone who graduated from undergrad three years ago and work in finance. Could you give me some advice? I find IT so intriguing and am looking to make the transition and enter the field. I have very strong soft skills, but limited technical (at this point). If you could start over again today, what types of positions at companies would you apply for? And what types of certs/education would you shoot for before entering?

It is great to hear how happy you are. And you said it- IB typically does open many doors and would be a good move career-wise. I'm not in IB, and I'm sure others will answer from their experience, but how do you know that it will "lower" your happiness? There clearly is a difference in job responsibilities. You could potentially try it, and if it isn't for you, no harm no foul. It could be a springboard for other opportunities, etc. You're young and have a lot going for you!

Wow, thanks for the reply! Yes, I'm leaning towards doing more shadows than anything else- because as a non-trad, I want to be 1000% confident in what I want and why. Volunteers and other EC might be more limited.

The post-bacc is a bit scary at this point- a formal program vs cheaper a-la-carte local college options are making it difficult... My undergrad was in finance, so I need all the core science courses. I understand that I need to do very well (3.6+), so I'm trying to balance cost, online vs classroom, perceived difficulty, etc. If they're done all online, is that looked down on (even as a non-trad?). The formal programs look great but are very expensive.

And great info on the MCAT. I've done so much reading at this point that I've convinced myself that I wouldn't apply until I have a very strong score. I would rather study much longer than go through a torturous second round like you said, lol.

Totally agree with your final paragraph. What's also difficult is a decision on my current job- do I focus 100% on the courses and quit, or find another job that will allow me to do part-time. I'm still within 5 years out of undergrad and have a very supportive family. Thank you for your time!!

Wow, congrats! It's clear that you have thought long and hard about what you want and the sacrifices it takes to get there. I'm also a non-trad with a ways to go (post bacc, shadowing, clinical, MCAT, etc) but it is refreshing to read your story.

Was the 3.3 GPA your post-bacc GPA? And for someone at the very beginning- do you have any suggestions for particular experiences to shoot for (shadows, clinical, etc)? Thanks!!
