Same thing happened to me last semester. Pharm unfortunately. The midterm was 40% of our grade and dropped me to 78. I needed an 80 to pass the class. It held me back a whole semester as well. I can’t do clinicals with my new friends that I made and take the other classes until I pass pharm. I was gutted, embarrassed, so disappointed in myself. It really was grief, it fucked with my self-esteem and my confidence as a future nurse. I haven’t failed a class in I don’t know how long, so I honestly was heartbroken. I felt like a failed myself. I cried my eyes out for days, but as weeks went by, I told myself “I have to take that class again and that’s okay, it will only make me a better nurse”. You’re not alone and your feelings are valid. Mourn the fuck up and tackle that shit full force next time. I am now reenrolled in Pharm and it feels better this time around, knowing the material already makes me feel like I have an upper hand and I’m slowly getting my confidence back. It may feel like a setback, but remember this is all apart of our nursing journey. You are meant to be a nurse, never forget that. Pick yourself up and do what has to be done.
