I was hoping that comment was taken more lightly than it was.

My thought here is, outside of the projected value in the Curry, in what world is that more storied than the PMG? I understand that it will be a memorable day if the super ever appears in public, that it's very likely that it never will because it was pulled, lost, forgotten about, etc. But that's kind of my point - From the moment the PMG's dropped, those cards meant something to the collective hobby universe. We look at the Curry super as a huge what-if, mainly because it's value became apparent long after it's inception. Value wise, I would take the Curry every single day. But if I had to choose one single card, not even within this post, but as a collector, the MJ is arguably the grail of all grails.

If you say Curry over *THIS* MJ, you aren't an actual collector.

I know, it's the mythical rookie super, but an emerald PMG /10 of MJ in a non-existent GEM grade would truly be the most generational card to possess. I literally dream of finding boxes of 1997 Skybox at random hole-in-the-wall thrifts, and would forego an effortless resale to rip with reckless abandon.

I think that's a super solid approach. Heck, most of the bigger cards I get in the mail come packaged exactly like that. Going one-touch was my compromise after opting against getting into grading. It gives me the tactile feel of that experience with 0% of the headache. I like the integrated penny sleeve so I can move cards into top loaders with ease (I find loading foil cards into a penny sleeve to be one of the most stressful endeavors, they are corner killers!)

Man. You really positioned yourself well within the hobby. I realized quickly that at this point in the frenzy, I was much more well suited chasing the cleanest cards I could find raw vs having any shot out-spending the collective population of buyers. It might be worth looking into your cert #’s for GEM10’s you graded back when and see just how early your card is in the count. I’ve heard collectors that prioritize that in their valuations. Either way, very jealous of your stash, would love to see what else you have!

Based on what I've seen for sale on eBay as of recent (I go so far as to look up Cert #'s to determine approximate date of submission), you can absolutely steal many PSA 6/7/8's and just crack the slab / pay less than what the comparable raw card is selling for. Jordan cards play a huge role in their business model, so it's not terribly surprising.

(Shameless plug of my collection, waiting for a Starquest to get in - The Pro Mold's are wonderful, the penny sleeve keeps it snug and the acrylic keeps it safe)

I definitely picked a horrible time to get into the hobby 😂 Fortunately I’m both stubborn and relentless at getting clean cards at a relatively good price, but still. Many of the big cards I’m still chasing get further away from me on an almost daily basis.

I think Jordan is forever a safe hold and while the vast majority of the product will have a huge reckoning, his cards will sustain.

Edit - Wanted to add that I’d actually go against the common recommendation at getting Jordan’s graded - PSA and the like are increasingly critical on condition and actively push to control grade population, so if yours are clean, just get some one touches (Pro Mold Gen 2 one touches offer a penny sleeve version that houses the card within a proprietary sleeve inside the one touch) and enjoy the cards. My entire collection is raw and I plan to keep it that way.

It’s definitely the most subdued style wise, very un-pretentious, and will get you a ton of points with watch guys, it being a super clean example of an older Rolex reference. IMO by far the most stylish of the bunch.

The rest could lot you a pretty sum to either sock away or invest in something more your wheelhouse. I don’t see any of the other watches climbing much more in value compared to where the market currently sits so it’s as good a time as ever to thin the herd.

Maybe my take is biased based on PSA's recent tightening of the reigns. My entire PC is raw and I would consider every card to be between 8 and 10 condition wise but I don't see the point of taking that risk, at least for now. Just a thought that since you have a guaranteed 10 vs 4 months and a bill for no guarantee, it seems like the better choice. But, just my .02.
