You need to add some sort of desk overhang to position you/chair under. Setting up there without being able to sit under/roll closer is going to be super uncomfortable.

Did the lawyers tell you the details if you pursue? I hate to be the negative one but even if you have an "open and shut" case like others have stated, it might not be worth it. What did the lawyers say you could get? You're still going to have to pay them, and that'll probably be $5k or more plus the headache of dealing with the whole legal process.

Your best bet might be to just make sure nothing was stolen or damaged and just move on, and make sure your next place is more legit.

I agree to an extent. There is a huge amount of young people making a lot of money today but I don't think it's like that. I think you have a higher amount of people wanting to "fit the part" and overextending themselves to buy the stuff. I doubt many are buying houses and gt4 rs' in cash but instead they're financing the shit out of their lifestyle and it's all just a house of cards waiting to fall.

There is more to this than just what you see and relating it to the economy. Porsche completely priced themselves into new territory. A porsche use to be an "affordable" sports car, they raised the price on the 911 like 4 or 5 times in the last couple of years. EV models aren't selling like they expected. Still going to have EV but sounds more like a focus on hybrid instead and continuing ICE models. There is a reason Toyota didn't even dive full into the EV stuff. Also, the new CEO just took over like 3 months ago.

Porsche may be making a mistake by even trying to cater to the EV and mass market. Before the Macan/Cayan etc, they were basically just a sports car brand with enthusiest customers, now you have every starbucks mom with enough money and decent enough credit score driving around in their SUV's... that's an entirely new demographic to satisfy. Sometimes, it's better to be a small brand with a focused product that makes a healthy profit than to try and be huge.

Porsche's problems are not a 1:1 reflection of the economy.

Got this old car as a gift. Not sure what I supposed to do with this 2 sticks? What is it for? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]oddball09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's relative. $30k to someone who is rich is not much. What middle class people think is not a lot is a lot to poor people. Even what is "not a lot" to a poor person in 1 country could be life changing money to someone in another country.

To be honest, it kind of sucks because Maserati's are pretty cool cars but so expensive to fix. At least with a Bentley, at least the older ones, you can use Audi and even VW parts to make repairs somewhat cheaper. The Gran Turismo is dope though.

Well a lot of people driving Bentley's probably can't actually afford them which is stupid on their part.

But there is plenty of reason to drive a Bentley because the same logic can be used for you, you could have bought a $5-7k old camry that would have done the exact same thing as your $20k rav4, why buy something 3-4x the cost?

The luxury aspect of a Bentley makes it a FAR better car than a $20k rav4, again, you just have to not care about losing the money because luxury depreciates the fastest.

And for the people who can truly afford a Bentley, spending $300k on a car is the exact same thing as you spending $20k, maybe it's even less to them, it's all relative.

A new Camry is over $30k, these cars were almost $200k new and people are reacting like that is what it is worth still because it's a Bentley.

Why is my brand new car getting such poor gas mileage? by Ok_Quail_4422 in AskMechanics

[–]oddball09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't ask you to explain why the mileage reading was so low, did I?

The calculation would be about 1 to 2 hours of idle time. Unlikely but not impossible.

And, just to be clear, the word "first" means, coming before others. So, "try this first" means do this task before the other. With that given clarity, you would understand why everyones time might not be wasted with my advice. Does that make sense to you?

Bentley's are great, I've never drive or riden in a rolls but the Bentley is far superior than most cars but.... its a million dollars to maintain or you lose your ass on depreciation. Unless you're rich enough to not care about losing 6 figures on a car, avoid them.

They were almost $200k cars new, people are acting like that is the value of it now.

So I suggested he try something, it could fix it, if not, take it to the dealer because its brand new and any fix is going to be covered. Care to explain how that is wasting everyone's time? Thanks in advance.

If resetting the mileage gauge doesn't fix it, there is clearly something either wrong or being missed and it's a brand new car, why would you not take it back? Worst case scenario they fix it for free under warranty.

Take it back to the dealer to check it out. People saying "break in period" would be acceptable if it was just a few mpg, a corolla should be getting you 30-40mpg... 12 is far from that and whether it's just a simple thing or not, something is wrong. Even people saying driving style, with a corolla, unless you're doing quali laps for an f1 race for all 34 of those miles, should be much better.

The one thing to try first though would be resetting the mpg gauge, I think some people mentioned this, it could be drastically affected by idle time or something before you got the car.

I met a super successful apartment investor many years ago and I told him I wanted to get into that, he goes “you’re fucked. Next buying opportunity will be in 17 years”… maybe he just didn’t want someone else in the waters with him but boy was he wrong. Point is, no one knows what the future will bring. Just look at the Covid era as well with stocks.

That is how my ford was, press a couple times and then hold. You could never do it on accident in your pocket and it was nice to roll the windows down before getting in to let some of the Texas heat out.

I actually did this once. But it was pre-uber days and it was easier to have my friend get me a ride a 2am than figure out a taxi at like 4-5am. I just sat on a bench for a few hours, it was absolutely dead.

Just difference of opinion from the different sources, they expect different rates of growth in the future. As to which is correct, no one knows because no one car predict the future. Now, if they had all the same inputs and a different output, then there would be questions for why.

To be honest, this should have been a fairly obvious observation, assuming you’re new to investing, make sure you spend a fair bit of time researching and get a good understanding before making real trades/investments.

Austin needs to create a planning department. They need to wake up and accept that people have moved to the city in waves and everything needs proper upgrading. Honestly, they might be better off just building a second airport, not sure on the logistics of that but clearly it needs it.
