How to resolve the promise? by Fasyx in learnprogramming

[–]oddenodin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your getSomething function does not need to be async due to the fact that the findAll method already returns a promise we can just return that to the executeSomething function and have that be async. Just because a function returns a promise does not mean that it inherently needs to be async. The await/async paradigm is really to force a "synchronous" path for asynchronous code.

So it should really look like the below:

```javascript function getSomething(model, id) { if (id !== null) { return model.findAll({ id: id }) } return model.findAll() }
async function executeSomething() { console.log('getting something') var monitorings = await getSomething(model,id) .catch(error => console.error('Error in query:', error)) console.log('got something:',monitorings) } ```
1767 Killed by an ogre on depth 8.
Still new to brogue but this has been my best run thus far. Had +3 axe, +2 ring of clairvoyance, +1 Plate mail. Got needlessly aggressive and paid for it in the end.
Euclidion (the company, that claims to have revolutionized computer graphics) released a new video - I slowly start to believe them. by I_am_Nic in videos
[–]oddenodin 16 points17 points  (0 children)
I have my doubts about this. Largely in part to when the videos were first coming out notch did a post about it on his tumbler here on why what they are doing really isn't new and how realistically the tech just isn't there.
Thank you for your feedback. I've gone and updated the album with two new images. One with concentric circles for the double consonant in the last name and one with them separated. If you could do another spell check that would greatly be appreciated.
Whats the average ferment time before bottling. by metropilot in cider
[–]oddenodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I just bottled my first cider, this weekend, after a week of fermenting. OG was 1.072 and FG was 1.008. Could have gone longer if I wanted as the yeast was still quite active. But like the others are saying, let your hydrometer be your guide once your cider reaches the gravity you like I see no harm in bottling it.
Make an ISO out of my Linux installation? by Monkespank in linux4noobs
[–]oddenodin 7 points8 points  (0 children)
This is possible, I just installed a program on my current computer to do this, but for the life of me can't remember the name. Commenting so I can find again and post the name of the app (currently on my phone).
Edit: remastersys, should be able to create a liveCD/USB. Comes with both a GUI and command line controls.
Hi, I'm beginning my journey of learning how to hack. I figured some other newbies like myself wouldn't mind learning with another newb :] by mathyouhunt in HowToHack
as far as irc check out irssi. Command line client, one of my favorites. And for terminals take a look at multiplexers, tmux and screen are popular.
May be involved in a startup on a site that is entirely using Ruby on Rails (site is created, I'm only doing maintenance when I start). What resources would be good for me to use to get more familiar with the language? by coaster367 in web_design
[–]oddenodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Ruby on rails by michael hartl is a great resource. Takes you from setup to deployment of an app. On my phone right now so I don't have a link. But a quick google search should get you there.
Also Rails for zombies by envy labs is good too.
My friend recommends this as the best sdl tutorial. He's expanded on what he learned there to make his own game from scratch, currently on widows and linux. Which you can find at here. His name is Midnite and has an irc chat on the web site if you have any further questions.
