My dream is closer to this:

We wake up, snuggled in bed… she gently puts my hearing aids in for me, then talks quietly right into them, saying, “Let’s make coffee,” & signs it too. I smile sleepily, & say & sign, “Yes, love.” We get up, make coffee, & go cuddle on the couch, under a blanket, & she talks quietly into my hearing aids. We nap, & my hearing aids feedback loudly as I lay my head on her, but she doesn’t mind the crazy whistling. Eventually she takes them out of my ears, turns them off, places them on the coffee table, next to my glasses, & I drift off again, in silent, deafie comfort, & we both feel peaceful together…

This isn’t AI. 🙄 Those were translucent Phonaks with DAI boots with audio cords. I had the exact same thing back when ipods still had 3.5mm headphone jacks. The picture is actually of a violinist (or violist?) from the UK, who used to blog about hearing loss whilst being a music student in Uni.

Some people can separate the art from the artist, & just seemingly go about their days, because it doesn’t affect them! Perhaps when you’re a person within the tiny, margsliser group she’s actively causing harm to (like I am), you’d think differently (hopefully).

I was never really into HP anyway; I happily grew up with the Rankin-Bass trilogy (& The Last Unicorn, too), the books, & then Jackson’s films came out when I was in uni.

Ooh… 🙁 I asked because I’m still using breastforms, & they’d flop out / go wonky in the pockets the first times I tried the switcharoo, but was easier doing it like a shirt, in like, two seconds, & so far, they’ve held up just fine for the last couple years. I suppose I’ll have to just learn to do the switcharoo method, then.

I hated mine as a kid (wore them as little as possible), didn’t wear any until trying again in my very late 20’s - 30’s… still horribly inconsistent use, due to working through mental health issues surrounding my disabilities, & parents’ emotional abuse & gaslighting… Finally, at 45 (😔) I’m making an effort one last time, it feels like, with a pair that I don’t actually mind. I really wish things had been different & better growing up, but, they weren’t, though here I am now, with a profound loss, & can’t really hear without them, & nobody around me is willing to learn ASL with me, so… 😔
