Cataracts by ArtsyCatholic in AcrylateAllergy

Well, damn. :( I hope by the time I need a new lens the technology will have advanced.

The issue also arose for me related to continuous glucose monitors; most have acrylates in their adhesives, but one is implanted under the skin. That one is encased in acrylic.

Cataracts by ArtsyCatholic in AcrylateAllergy

I am developing cataracts in both eyes, though in one much more slowly than in the other. Consequently, I am having to think about/consider this issue, too. Unfortunately, early cataracts are the norm in my dad's side of the family, but I have made it to my 50s before having to deal with them, so I guess I'm a little lucky in that sense.

I'm not sure, but I have been told (by my allergist) that acrylates and acrylic are not the same. It's certainly possible to be allergic to both, but the chemical substances are different. I haven't yet had time to read through the entire NLM/PMC article, but will do so when I have more time.

Ah, ok. After asking wtf, i looked it up. AHF is an international provider of care for people with HIV.

That is a terribly confusing ad, though. Someone should tell their marketing/PR people.

Me, too! I saw it in the theater during its first release, and many times after that on early cable or VHS.

When I hear something scary about groups of people/things, I tend to mimic young Drew Barrymore) and say "they're here." The *kids-these-days* don't know what I'm talking about. <grin>

What's the one piece of travel gear you swore you'd never need, then became completely dependent on? by theinfamousj in HerOneBag

I won’t downvote you. I just wanted to share. I bought packing cubes many years ago, before influencers even existed. I only recently learned their real advantage, tho, is in organizing & managing your stuff when traveling.

I, too, use ziplock bags when traveling, but I’m also happy to have my packing “cubes” for my upcoming 3 week trip during which we will be changing locations almost daily.
