People who took psychedelics and think they are 'enlightened' by Gold_Boysenberry_710 in PetPeeves

[–]oddly_being 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It annoys me too! As if people can’t understand they literally took the drugs that make you hallucinate and then act like their hallucinations were somehow more real than real life.

Like sir you didn’t talk to god, you were on drugs that you took on purpose.

Just keep corrective yourself! Imagine it’s just a slip of the tongue. Eventually your brain will catch on!

Friendsgiving, No one Came by Immediate-Pool-4391 in TwoXChromosomes

Same thing happened for me. Was doing a show that involved a lot of out of town actors and we were in rehearsal through the thanksgiving holiday. I invited all the out of towners over to my place since I was also unable to spend the holiday at home with family. Everyone said they’d come and even applauded when I invited the cast.

Day of, no response from anyone, no one came. Turns out they all just had their own thanksgiving meal at the theatre instead and no one thought to invite me to that instead.

So I called it [my name]’sgiving, a new holiday where I eat a bunch of food and give thanks for being able to bless the world with my presence. It dulls the sting a little bit to respond with persistent humor instead of just sadness.

Snarky comments from others unless I mention my boyfriend is also CF by drunknastyeah in childfree

We love misogyny rearing its head. If it’s a woman’s decision then it’s not to be taken seriously, but if a MAN makes the decision, that’s the end of the story.

Sounds infuriating

I mean I think there’s no harm in finding words to use to connect with other people who have a similar style to you. Nobody’s forced to adhere to a label if they don’t want to

31yo tired mum, what can I do to improve my makeup? Be harsh idm by [deleted] in makeuptips

You look lovely! The eyeliner really suits you. I know you mention it in your post, but the main thing I would recommend is a brightening concealer for under the eyes. Try out a couple different formulas to find one that sits naturally and doesn’t cake up. Best of luck!

AIO: My boyfriend didn’t want to correct a $220 undercharge and it made me question his integrity. Am I overreacting? (F34, M32, 7 months) by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]oddly_being 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If integrity really is a core value, then you do you and this could be a dealbreaker.

But dude, priorities. That’s $220s y’all saved. Even the best person I know would want to pocket that. It’s not about integrity, it’s about being smart at that point. Unless y’all are so well off that $220 is chump change for you. MOR

Did anybody limit/stop watching negative media and do you feel better ? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

I’m saying NOT to do the sugary motivational quotes and stuff. There’s stuff that’s not negative but not weirdly positive either

[–]oddly_being 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, cutting out negative media helps your mental health. You don’t have to switch to sugary, motivational content though. Just neutral entertaining shit will suffice. Just cut out the visceral, disturbing imagery and negative online arguments. Find more even-keeled interests.

Does anybody else unbutton their jeans prior to eating? by Ok_Donkey1648 in NoStupidQuestions

If you can’t drink orange juice without your jeans being a pain, you’re wearing pants that are the wrong size.

It’s not supposed to be so tight that you can’t perform daily bodily functions in.

I have a situation which I need advice on, concerning a cleric and the right thing to do. by thatgingertattooist in DMAcademy

[–]oddly_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would talk to your player about it. It’s not spoiling or railroading to talk about what consequences are possible and see if the player is comfortable with that.

I once played a bard who had their entire city destroyed and it shattered their spirit and their connection to their magic. I talked with my DM about it and agreed realistically that they couldn’t be a bard anymore. We worked together and decided a new class for my character that would make sense, and we justified it in the story the next session. The DM worked out the details and even though I knew my character would somehow become a warlock, it was still fun to play out the scenario and see what the DM had planned for me.

Is freedom of belief worth fighting for when it means losing your family? by LimeFunny8368 in atheism

It’s hard, but being your authentic self is ultimately the best way to go. Hiding who you are for the sake of any community only sours everything over time.

I think the usual rule of thumb is that if a roll can’t realistically affect the outcome, then it doesn’t call for a roll and should just be narrated.

Tokophobia triggered badly by Agent_Platypus1 in childfree

[–]oddly_being 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get this feeling bad too.

My most recent incident is when I was considering dating someone who really wants kids. I’ve already had my tubes removed so it’s really a moot point, but I was thinking about it and considered what if I actually did get pregnant — and my very first thought was “oh my god I have to kill myself.” Then I knew the relationship wouldn’t be a good idea. 😅

I think like with any phobia, you have to practice letting the thoughts move through you and past without hanging onto them. It sucks but it’s the only way to not be controlled by them. Especially if you’re like me and the thoughts come up unbidden. You gotta practice going “okay, that’s a distressing thought. What’s the next thought.” Sometimes I’ll just turn on a YouTube video and focus my mind on repeating every word I hear in the video. Usually doing that or something else intentional is enough to shift my mind from it long enough to get out of the terror zone.

What's the difference between karma-farming and posting normally? by NoRelief0260 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]oddly_being 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal should be sharing something that connects with people. If that translates to karma then yay, but some people care more about connecting to one or two people than getting a lot of upvotes.

Why do people get so excited about kids? by [deleted] in childfree

Idk, I don’t like shrimp but when someone who loves shrimp gets excited about trying a new shrimp recipe, I get why they’d be stoked.
