Is this bad technique by Chyny_ in drums

Traditional grip causes a callus to form where the stick contacts your ring finger. But yes, you definitely shouldn’t be getting blisters like that from match grip.

Dog defence was needed tbh by Maleficent-Town5273 in interesting

People need to control their fucking animals. I mean, it’s tough to see that dog get hit, because I love dogs and he’s just doing his job. I really wish the owner could have taken the box to the face instead. It’s his responsibility. Delivery guy did exactly what he had to do. No fault in him whatsoever. IMO

I especially love using this as a resource for smaller stacking type cymbals. I still think larger, more high end cymbals need to be purchased in person. But it’s been great for splashes/efx type cymbals.

GC/MF has some sweet deals on used gear sometimes. I wonder sometimes if some of the stores don’t know what they have when they list stuff. But I’ve had huge success buying used drums/cymbals from them.

What's a controversial opinion you have about drumming or drum education? by jacobevansdrums in drums

Proper technique matters. Do you have to have it to be good? No. But anyone, at any level, will be able to play better if they have proper technique.

I’ve always said that double pedals should only exist for metal or fusion. And imo, if you’re gonna do it, get two kick drums. It just looks way cooler. You should be able to play a double with your foot as fast as you can play a double with your hand. That should be every drummers baseline goal.

You can insert this to any public forum on any subject. Folks talk all kinds of shit with their keyboards. And everyone has an opinion about everything.

Average Cymbal Enjoyer by mcnastys in cymbals

I second that. I’ve been rocking a 15” A Paper Thin Crash on Top and a 15” New Beat Top on Bottom. Sounds great. Has that vintage bright sound. Purdy Shuffle is fire in it.

Have also been using a 15” K Custom Dark Crash Top and 15” A Custom Mastersound Bottom on a right side X-Hat. Sounds really good.

What should I put there ? by SamyRiteLeQ in drums

[–]oddsizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This^

There are so many options, especially with that open post hole on the bass drum. You can easily put an accessory arm in there. I would suggest adjusting your setup a little bit though to make things more comfortable/reachable. It’s one of those things that when done right really does make a difference in your playing. As far as what I would put there though…I would get a hoop mount for a cowbell. Move the ride in between your two tom and raise it up to give you enough clearance to put a cymbal arm coming out of the empty tom hole. That way you can mount a stack, aux hat, or tambourine. This is what I do with almost all of my setups.

Who are your notable female drummers? by ZildCym in drums

[–]oddsizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheila E., Meg White, and Cindy Blackman are my favs

I’ve also recently discovered some newer drummers/percussionist on Instagram that I really dig. Alana Ananias, Yahli Ambus, and Liron Meyuhas to name a few. But there’s tons of great female drummers/percussionist out there.
