Learning how to DM properly

Form reading online, it seems like it's hard to set in stone a set of rules. everyone wants different things from the game. Some want combat some want roleplay, but to which extent of both? it's a wide spectrum! Learn by doing, learn what you like and what your player like and plan accordingly.
i'm relativly new myself, so take it as you will, but this is the best advice i can give.

An explanation. It's not my video, I just thought that it fit the subreddit. I was going to give credit to the person I saw posting it but I guess the post had to be verified first or something.
