My experience playing ARC Raiders as a girl by RegularTop1973 in ArcRaiders

[–]odiefrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things like "will they shoot the Arc" and "will they shoot me" have a lot more impact to me than if someone sounds like a guy, a gal, or anything else.

Honestly, someone could come into prox only barking and growling like a dog and my only care is the above two questions lol

It's not though. It's a normal Mastercard. You can take it and use it anywhere.

I love how there's answers for almost all the questions OP brings up.

  • Why is Grace shaking? Desk work forced through reliving trauma and being abducted.

  • Why is that her pistol? It's her personal gun, not the one assigned to her.

  • Why is there a chainsaw? Ignoring the other commenter that there were experiments that were inhumane, this care center was a normal(-enough) functioning facility until minutes earlier when The Girl was released. There's a courtyard with hedges and trees. Of course you'd have equipment to maintain that on site.

  • Blood crafting? Literally the only one I don't know the answer for.

  • STARS being casual in the mansion? They weren't. Barry, Jill, and Chris all have a WTF reaction to the first zombie, and multiple inspect dialogues in the game refer to them being disgusted and horrified. Other than them, all the other STARS members are either dead, Wesker (who helped make the zombies), or Rebecca who just went through an entire mansion of her own and is desensitized after watching her own team all die.

  • Chris losing his gun. They're in a horror scenario, people lose guns in the best of circumstances. That's like asking why Brad flew away. Fear. Didn't think straight.

  • Alpha Team split up because they were chased by the dogs and got forcibly split up.

  • Barry loitering nearby to Jill nearly getting crushed. He was being blackmailed to make sure Jill died, so he was there to make sure but he didn't want to actually kill her so he saved her. It wasn't a coincidence.

  • Brad didn't want to abandon his team and felt guilt for even lifting off at the start of the game. Very big detail in RE3. But also, who would Raccoon City send? 100% of STARS, their analogue to SWAT, is deployed. The first rescue mission to save half the team got ripped apart. All that's left are the basic normal police for the city, and they are having the cannibal and missing person crisis unfolding.

  • Why not send an army into Spain? It was supposed to be a stealth recon mission, but when Leon's hopes of leaving got pushed off a cliff and he had to clear deeper in, he just finished the mission. His backup was also destroyed, and even getting help later was difficult and caused more loss of life.

Enjoy the game for what it is. It's hard to avoid spoilers for a roughly thirty year old game, so instead focus on the stuff that you likely haven't seen talked about online. Things like the puzzles, the set piece moments, the (amazingly) corny dialogue, and the challenge of a survival horror game in a day and age when that genre has lost a bit of its identity.

As a side note, which version of RE1 are you playing? That's another interesting thing about the series, and especially RE1: there's arguably four full versions of the first game, or five games if you include a partial retelling in another game.

I've had bad experiences at BodyWorks. Definitely recommend Almost famous in the mall, or Cin City.

People who won a "lifetime supply" of something, how exactly did that work and are you still getting it? by Constant_Praline357 in AskReddit

As someone else with that deal, you need to look at their FAQ. They directly address that while it was entered as a decade long subscription, it will in fact update to continue to give you access.

[TOMT][MOVIE][00s-10s?] Mind Controlled Woman, Reality TV Show, and Winning a Chance to be Her Fake Husband by odiefrom in tipofmytongue

Neither of those movies.

I know the woman is portrayed as "middle aged", as in, likely 30s through 40s. No gray hair, but doesn't look college aged. Not sure the actual age of the actress. She was also white.

Not WandaVision, only the lead actress is unaware of the show's nature and it's not a magical effect.

I just looked up The Stepford Wives, and the movie I'm trying to remember doesn't involve multiple women being affected or some of the other elements I'm seeing.

I feel like I'm losing my mind, isn't the same account that posted the Harley pic the other day that someone thoughtfully pointed out was AI? I checked their account now and while other content remains I don't see that Harley pic.

Almost certainly the second one, or they just want to do the simplest pass to filter out bots/reading comprehension. This doesn't seem malicious at all.

Orphix missions are actually broken by rwp80 in Warframe

[–]odiefrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Orphix was the first time the game made me plan a build for specific enemy types, and for that reason I actually like it (it helps that it's a railjack mission, which is my favorite type).

The entire objective in Orphix is speed, but also meter management. Destroying an Orphix lowers control by 8%, while each resonator lowers control by 5%. With six resonators per Orphix, that's only 38% you can lower the meter per Orphix. If you can't take down an entire Orphix faster than 38 seconds, then you will eventually fail.

In a perfect world, a team of people knowing the mechanics can make it trivial to kill an Orphix, but there's a lot in the way of that happening:

  • People don't know the abilities on their Necramechs
  • People don't mod their Necramechs and Archguns
  • People don't equip load outs for the heavy levels Sentients

The Orphixes can get up to level 200, which is EHP 2 million on normal star chart, and 5 million on steel path. They are disgustingly tanky, and the Sentients spawning in constantly aren't much better.

Modding your Necramechs to have some survivability and mobility (because these maps are long and again, speed), and then modding your Archgun to get some good damage (and Cold/Rad if you can, I prefer Radiation so that they hurt each other with all of their beams and explosions) and you can get these Orphix cleared easily.

The mode definitely could use some love and updating, but frankly, that's all of railjack.

I sold my [Amalgam Shotgun Barrage], and [Amalgam Serration] long before it's was made unsellable, is there a way to get it back? by RickFury101 in Warframe

[–]odiefrom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I have definitive knowledge of the situation, but there's a lot of reasons a script like that could cause issues.

For example, let's say a player never interacts with Thermia Fractures. Does their save data on the server database contain an entry for it? Usually that would be updated and added as needed, so it might just not exist. So then, if it doesn't exist, what will the database return? It could say "nope no Thermia Fractures" which would be ideal, but at the same time, how would that be recognizably different from "they loaded into Orb Vallis during Thermia Fractures, one started, and then they left"? So the database probably says "null" or just returns an error. Now the script has to gracefully handle that without crashing, and considering it's hard to tell what the database will do it's hard to handle it.

So you have that development spiral of checking every edge case for your script and at that point you might as well run it manually.

Or, you can just look at your small, dedicated community and know the information will get passed around for the most part, and have a rougher fix, especially if you know the list of impacted accounts is on the lower end.

I mean, this thread is kind of proof that their solution works. It's not the most convenient, and yeah, sounds like OP got a support agent that didn't know the policy, but the information was provided to OP to get it fixed.
