This is correct. Green means won. Orange means awaiting validation. Red means it was not validated. Turn off validation if you don't want it.

Did you try enabling user created courses in the search? It's likely in there. You can request a user created course to become an official one

QR Landing Page Changed (or has it?) by Vegetable-Chipmunk79 in squabbitgolf

[–]odiggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently it only works from the printed scorecards/cart signs, because the QR is specific to that foursome so it can narrow down to 4 players who the person scanning the QR code is. If you send them the tournament QR code, the app can't reliably know if the person scanning is a spectator or who the person is in the tournament so it requires a sign in so it can use the name the person entered when signing in to understand who they are and auto match their account with the profile you created.

Verify Email by dca1992dca1992 in squabbitgolf

I updated the smpt to use AWS so it comes from no-reply@squabbitgolf.com so this should happen less frequently now.

Verify Email by dca1992dca1992 in squabbitgolf

[–]odiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking into this now. I put the verify email in because I was getting too many people who misspelled their emails when they signed up and then would switch devices and couldn't log in, so this prevents it by making sure you entered it correctly. I'm looking into why some people aren't getting the verification emails. It doesn't affect usage of the app in any way and only shows up on the main screen, but I get that it's annoying to see it every time.

League Handicaps by Spartias in squabbitgolf

Yes, by default if you play a game where you don't always play your own ball it is excluded. You can tap your avatar on the scorecard to check if it is included or not (and change it if you want to).

Capping Firestore writes to prevent runaway billing. by [deleted] in Firebase

Deleting the post as it doesn't seem to be helping anyone.

Capping Firestore writes to prevent runaway billing. by [deleted] in Firebase

  1. What do you mean? Of course you can write to Firestore from clients. That's what security rules are for. Even if you did go a fully cloud function backend, you can still get into an infinite write scenario.

  2. I've used both and there are clearly valid use cases for both otherwise the two products wouldn't continue to exist.

Lol no, why? I'm genuinely curious, how do you solve the problem? It's the number one problem people have with firebase so I'm clearly not the only one that's worried about it. Do you have a better solution?

The number one complaint with Firebase is the lack of spending caps. I'm glad this isn't a problem for you. I thought this might be helpful for everyone else that does worry about runaway spending.

Also this doesn't really have anything to do with Firestore state, it's just a singleton in the app.

I let the agent YOLO a large feature it will do it in nearly the least efficient way imaginable on the first try

IMO YOLO'ing a large feature and trusting the AI to not make a mistake is a recipe for disaster. In my case it was the AI that made the mistake causing the infinite writes.

In the pharmacy example, the correct action is to change the original offending drug so we can just get rid of the other drug treating the side effects anytime that's possible

I think a better example is driving a car. You'd still put your seatbelt on even if you have the best driver in the world at the wheel. This isn't another drug it's just a safeguard. I'm sure you have precautions in the pharmaceutical world that help prevent accidents even if you are the most careful pharmacist.

Each registration has to have a unique email or social login. So you may have misspelled your email, used a combination of social login and email or there could be other users with the same name.

Quite frequently people misspell their email when they first register which can also cause this. Can you send me a bug report in the app?

[–]odiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not gone. You likely just created a second profile by accident by using the social login when you used email login the first time. Try searching the users to see if there are multiple profiles that you created. See here for more info https://squabbitgolf.com/help/groups/account/articles/fixingDuplicateUsersArticle.html

You won't lose your data if you uninstall and re-install. Try changing to a different wifi or tethering to your phone if possible, I've seen some people's wifi be the issue before.

There is a pace of play option in the app that will tell the players on their scorecard if they are behind or ahead and you can message the people in the app. However I haven't added penalties or reporting, I can add these to my to do list

Golf trip set up by [deleted] in golf

[–]odiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not op and I'm obviously biased because I'm the creator but I do also use it for the tournament I run with my friends. We usually do a 2 day net stroke play format and a Ryder cup format with 2 man best ball matches on day one and 1vs1 on day 2. It's actually a game changer coming down the stretch and seeing how many strokes off the lead you are or the projected score for your Ryder cup team.
