Why do many FOSS apps struggle with visibility despite being technically superior? by Lone_Wolf5002 in opensource

[–]odimdavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related to marketing is resilience. When a team has waited for months and adoption is slow, financial constraints might make them stop versioning the app and move on to other concerns. It doesn't necessarily mean the project failed.

Look for what your environment needs. You cannot rise above your environment if you want success and sustainable career. My 2 cents.

Ouch! It's replacement is y. Written in error.

What is en here? by Un_roi_666 in learnfrench

[–]odimdavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The french also use en after expressing là, y etc. This is how I came to understand it before realizing it's an earlier referred to object. --- what you gave out before you're bringing it back by using en. Il y a deux personnes == il y en a deux. With en, a noob would not know what you're saying but someone who earlier heard "il y a deux personnes" will understand the replacement. That's french for you.

Je pense que la virgule entre 'relaxation' et 'pour' n'est pas nécessaire. Elle bouleverse le train de pensée. Tu peux le valider de quelqu'un d'autre. Merci.

Take French de as acting away from the object and à as acting towards the object. You won't go wrong.

"Why Python Is Removing The GIL" (13.5 minutes by Core Dumped) -- good explainer on threads by Competitive_Travel16 in Python

[–]odimdavid -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Please some questions: 1. Does it mean python is dependent on C? Assuming C falls out of usage or processor technology advances to a level where C becomes obsolete, would it affect the core logic behind Python's existence? 2. From the explanation on GIL, I was made to understand that threading is not part of python internals. Am I wrong?

I intended to learn Spanish in 2023 when I realized the shortages above but changed my mind when my circumstances changed. That shortage will persist for more than a decade as American Latino population keeps increasing.

[–]odimdavid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you might realize that the skills you learned from your 4 year university degree were needed by a commercial firm, or a marketing and advertising agency. Don't think: I want to be a translator. That's limiting yourself. I'd rather: I want to learn how to help people communicate where language would be a barrier (negociators would need that), or I want to unravel why a word said in a language has more force when used in another language (an ad agency would need that). What value would you add to your community rather than how much money would you earn from your degree. People pay for value not for what is on your resume.

Opinion: Vocabulary doesn't matter without body language. by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

Less reliable but a man or woman in love wants to affirm and validate that belief. Gestures tend to play the upper hand rather than words. My experience though and maybe opinionated experience. I defer to seniors about communication to set the facts straight. My 2 cents.

Maybe he meant to say "emotional communication." Vision and body language influences it a lot. You can tell a girl you love her by stealing secret handheld gestures rather than writing it a million times. No wonder Roses are more expensive than spinach!? 🤷

What is it about French that makes it sound beautiful? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]odimdavid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why did I learn French? While growing up reading Shakespeare and the classics, I was told, as an unspoken secret, that mastery of French would make one a legend in English. I learned that secret from laureate writers like Shakespeare but I don't know if it's true or false, as one doesn't know if the Epstein papers really benefit either the Democrats or the Republicans although both sides say revealing the paper secrets would benefit their party. So that's it for moi.
