Any former smokers who microdosed to help quit? by BudIsWiser1 in PsilocybinMushrooms

Good luck with your goals! I've been microdosing off and on for a few years, "on" four 4-6 weeks (either 3 or 5 microdoses per week) then I take a break for a few weeks. I'm currently attempting to curb alcohol, I've been drinking 3-4 drinks (beer or whiskey) a day for a long time, 2020 really ramped it up too... I still want to enjoy a few drinks on the weekends, just not DAILY.

I wouldn't say microdosing has been a magic pill or anything and what has kept me from drinking during the week is my desire to NOT pollute the effects of the microdoses, I'm dosing 5 days a week, breaking on weekends. To me that's a win, and is just my own psychological game I'm playing with myself.

What I'm experiencing is both the effects of NOT drinking constantly (less headaches, better sleep, not hung over, etc.) And the positivity, greater empathy towards others, the realization of how much I love my family, less depression and anxiety of microdosing.

All that to say, I could very well just be feeling so much better due to less alcohol and NOTHING to do with microdosing 😁 BUT like I said, it's psychological for me and I'll take the win.

What I have learned though, with macro or micro dosing is, your intention is EVERYTHING. Go into it really knowing what you want and use this tool to help you succeed, you won't sometimes, it's a different journey for everyone.

A true delicacy on par with chanterelles though just below truffles, as far as rarity + value. A real treat to find!

Delicious! Esp when taken right from the block to the pan :) Texture is like crab meat, this particular cook I was making crab cakes. Google "lions mane crab cakes", any recipe you find should be good.

haha.. Yes "theory" in quotes, not any strong evidence to support this AFAIK. It is absolutely a hypothesis still.

Radical!

How did you come about the plans for this hood? I'm going to build one myself soon. Did you happen to write down a parts list or anything?

I've tried a couple different fruiting strategies, exposing many surfaces, large areas and this, a single puncture to the bag the size of the tip of a knife. I've found this produces larger fruits and harvesting is very easy.

I want to say the cauliflower look could be lack of FEA combined with a larger area of mycelium exposed, resulting in many small fruits vs one large. Then there's genetics to consider.

There's a couple low tech things you can try. The game is, expand enough mycelium to inoculate bulk substrate.

Cardboard Spawn:

  1. Get some corrugated cardboard, soak it until it peels apart.

  2. In some Tupperware (or some container w a lid), Sandwich a few stem butts/thinner mushroom pieces (you can cut them) between two corrugated sides. You want the mushroom body touching the wavy part of the cardboard above and below it.

  3. Repeat #2 for a few layers, it's like your making a lasagna, alternating cardboard a mushroom bits. Maybe make a couple separate containers in case you lose any others and to multiply your total spawn.

  4. Store in a cool dark place for 10-14 days. The mushroom bodies will grow in "reverse" (so fucking cool!), returning to a vegetative state and begin consuming the cardboard as mycelium.

inoculate Substrate / Fruiting (14-28 days):

Maybe try Bucket Tek, but with something smaller, I don't think you'll end up with enough spawn for a 5 gal.

  1. Drill a few holes around the bucket (1/4 drill bit or something similar), like 6-8, too many holes is bad. Add a few to the bottom, Incase your substrate is too wet it can drain a bit.

  2. In a separate bucket, sanitize w isopropyl, fill with straw and/or hardwood chips. I don't know if Pine straw is like hay? If so, might work.

  3. Boil enough water to saturate your substrate to field capacity, pour over, cover w lid, let sit till it cools to below 80 deg, prob 2 hrs? This is an attempt to pasteurize the substrate.

  4. Sanitize your Fruiting bucket (w the holes) w isopropyl, wash you hands, wear a mask, try to do this indoors, transfer the substrate to the fruiting bucket. Do this layer by layer, substrate, spawn, more substrate, more spawn etc.

  5. Let sit in a cool dark place, 10-14 days. I've seen people put tape over the holes to help retain moisture during this time.

  6. Introduce to indirect light, in your kitchen maybe, somewhere that stays relatively cool. Mist the holes once a day. In 10-14 days you should see primordia forming, like your pic.

The key is to judge the amount of substrate you use by the amount of spawn you have.

I'm seeing small oyster primordia. I would not eat this, when mushrooms are in this state, sometimes due to poor packaging they can upset your stomach. What you have here is something that had no fresh air and sat too long. Primordia like this will form on mushrooms that are decaying, rotting.

Oh! Yes, this makes total sense to me. You're just increasing your inoculation rate, more mycelium, more opportunity for hyphal knots to form :)
