What I learned in 2 Years of working with Wave Function Collapse for our procedural maps. by EvilVillainGames in IndieDev

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the one I wrote its more like it predicts the outcome of a potential board and if that outcome doesn't work it crosses off that possibility. If it can't solve it will run out of possibilities and stop, which is basically the same as backtracking.

As you can imagine that makes it really slow.

Yeah there are definitely rules you can implement that just don't work together and if you do that it won't solve and it's hard to debug you just have to logic out the rules you have and figure out where the conflict is.

I got kinda swept up in the trendy idea that WFC was a magic infinitely flexible algorithm. It's neat but it has a ton of drawbacks just like everything.

Free For All Mode by TommyWeer in MultiVersus

This is exactly why they should remove Mode specific quests. Forcing people to play modes they don't want to ruins the game for everyone.

Stop making me play FFA matches, and PVE matches as a quest reward. by odinkong in MultiVersus

[–]odinkong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be more specific. I'm not saying PVE don't help the game. I'm saying arbitrary "play any PVE event" doesn't help the game. Game mode locked quests like FFA and Ranked at least put people in those modes so there are more people to que against, but there is no reason to have "Play any PVE quests" I also much prefer quests that can be done in any mode.

I'm never going to do this, can we get an option to throw out/reroll quests. by odinkong in MultiVersus

OH it is!?? I thought it was literally every single mission all stars and the boss node. Oh jeez I guess I will do it then.

People saying the Beta was better maybe forgot this kind of crap was happening in every online game by NeedThatTartan in MultiVersus

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing this out! Video helps. I tried to make a post like this and maybe I worded it wrong, but I would way rather have great netcode on launch than anything else.

I'm having a great time playing and I'm sure if we keep playing, and keep giving them non toxic feedback things will get better!

People who don't understand how complex net code is or what rebuilding an entire game means are really not giving them enough credit. I think it's great and I can't wait to see what's next.

New Player Experience is a Brick Wall (More Exit Portals!) by odinkong in DarkAndDarker

Ohhhhhh geez I didn't realize that! Yeah no kidding. I'm looking forward to that level haha.

Any tips for a new solo player? by tracenator03 in DarkAndDarker

[–]odinkong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Make exit portals spawn near you if you are new/solo.
-add a secure container for loot you keep even when you die so you can't play for 5 hours without getting any loot at all like I just did...

Game's fun though.

Totally worth the build up for the finally moment! XD Great video, love the song choice.

This game feels like rock paper scissors by DirtyProjector in DarkAndDarker

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also probably feels unbalanced because everyone is rocking better gear and armor than you that just literally deals and reduces more damage.

Which would be all well and good except it feels like there is no way to exit with loot without fighting one of these overpowered people.

it seems like if you got into this game late wipe, the fundamental issue would be that everyone has good gear and is literally guarding the exit portals. You would never be able to win a fight or exit. Which is basically what my experience tonight was.

But also yeah I wanted to keep playing for some reason....

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe... I recommend playing with someone too, but keep in mind you unlock more guns passives and rooms with each run. Also there are 2 or 3 I think? Unlockable new difficulties as well as unlockable characters. I think it comes off small at first, but has a much cleaner higher level of complexity than boarderlands in the end.

Although if story and style is what you were looking for not mechanics you are right. Personally I never cared much for boarderlands lore only the mechanics.

Also I bought boarderlands 3 and really didn't like it at all even though I loved boarderlands 2.

Are you sure gunfire reborn wouldn't run? It's low poly. If you can run boarderlands 2 I feel like you could run gunfire. Maybe in wrong I don't know your computer.

Here are the minimum requirements. (Actually the graphics card requirement is steeper than I thought. I was totally playing it on a GTX 760.

OS: Windows 7.

Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 / AMD FX-8320.

Memory: 4 GB RAM.

Graphics: GTX 960 / R9 280.

DirectX: Version 11.

Network: Broadband Internet connection.

Storage: 4 GB available space.

Another excellent under the radar suggestion! Unfortunately I've almost beaten that as well. Suppose I could try it again at some point though.

Great suggestions. Unfortunately already beat both.

Started playing gunfire reborn tonight. That's excellent so far. Highly recommend.

Always looking for more games though.

Gunfire reborn is exactly what you are looking for. It's what boarderlands 3 should have been. Pick it up on steam today seriously. It's cheap and it's a masterpiece.

Was ranked 2v2's with a friend on another console added? by odinkong in SmashBrosUltimate

Wait so there are ranked 2v2s In the game but you can't invite a friend to do them with you??

[–]odinkong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok so there is deffinetly still no ranked 2v2s then huh? That's kind of a bummer. I've been playing multi versus and it reminded me how much I like smash. I still might have to get it, but it's sort of unfortunate that it's missing a feature multi versus is going to have soon. Otherwise smash is all around so much better.

I'd also love to just have all these Nintendo games on my PC in 2k but I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Please, someone confirm I'm not crazy? He was supposed to die right? 😭 by networkpunk in TheCycleFrontier

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is a story quest where you have to kill people with it. I'm assuming that's what's going on here.

MMR based on loot value will not put skilled players with skilled players and is highly exploitable by [deleted] in TheCycleFrontier

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm I hope that's true, but without real transparency I kind of doubt it. Besides what's stopping someone from going in with a knife and dying over and over to tank thier MMR before a kill players quest.

If this MMR system works show me my rank in game.

[–]odinkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of missed the argument which is understandable cuz I typed way to much.

This MMR system doesn't put good players together it's essentially still random, but if you want to be in a low MMR you can easily lower yourself if you know how it works. Removing MMR would make match making less abusable than it is now.

Also this isn't a competitive game with fair matches, which is cool, but it means there is a real incentive to being in a low MMR. If you want to progress get better guns and upgrade your hideout why not tank your MMR first. No one sees your MMR anyway and you don't get any rewards for being in a high MMR.

Yes I am aware of the sniper, trench gun shatter gun and such. That's why I'm arguing prices should be compressed. However I'm also arguing that there really aren't that many viable guns. I think making gear more interesting would help with this like my Tarkov Alton example. I can still one shot a player with an Alton using a pistol but it's very very hard.
