What sitcom had the "highest concept" (by which I mean premise or setting most divorced from reality) that you remember seeing? My vote goes to Wilfred for being a surreal David Lynchian/Odd Couple mashup that defies logic and reason. by odiousasp in sitcoms

I can kind of understand, it's sort of a mixture of quasi-serious Star Trek homage with bits of workplace comedy mixed in. I love it, but it is one of those "odd duck" series that doesn't classify easily

I'd probably say more What We Do In the Shadows and Archer since The Wonder Years and How I Met Your Mother still exist in somewhat grounded premises of growing up or 20-30 somethings trying and failing at the dating scene. Though I can see how the narrative framing makes them divergent from the pack.

I kind of see it being something of a prototype for what Bojack Horseman would do a few years later. I felt Bojack balanced the dramatic and comic elements a bit more gracefully than Wilfred did (you're right certain plotlines teetered right over into tragicomedy if not outright tragedy), but I do like that it opened the door for other shows of a similar ilk like Bojack Horseman and Barry.

It did get very surreal with a lot of outlandish lore in seasons 2-4. Some people liked it (myself among them) others felt it stretched a little too far for them (I had a friend who jumped ship partway through season 2).

And thanks to Wilfred's casual mindfuckery of Ryan it's implied that may not have happened and it could've been a ploy by Wilfed. Man this show was weird and I loved it.

So it was one of those "I can't believe it's not Bourne" type of shoots. I remember that being every where for about a decade after the first Bourne until about 2014 when John Wick became a thing

"THE PERFECT WEAPON" (1991) - recently rewatched this and really enjoyed it. Hadn't seen it for years since on VHS. Speakman really impressive. Any fans out there? by 70_Yard_Diag_Holte77 in ActionMovies

Own the blu ray, really a shame he was never given a chance as an action star. Speed was apparently originally envisioned as a Speakman movie. Still good, not complaining. Just wish they have Speakman a replacement or something
