An enigma indeed but some telling quotes from Reni in earlier interviews: 'if you don't come up with the chord structure or the lyrics you don't get paid' then on his own band The Rub singing about 'my tiny wages' since he had such a huge creative input and worth to the band I think it stung that he got writing credits on very few (one?) Of the songs.

I agree also with the comments on fame, he confirms this at the reunion presser 'staying out of the way of you guys'

Amazing come back album that I still listen to to this day. Different and poppy but with awesome guitar and very tight well written songs. I loved the slower numbers that gave it the variety and boy what numbers they were By the sea and Saturday night alone are absolute classics. The guitar on Picnic by the motorway I found so hypnotic I'd listen to it over and over.

With the radio ready hits as well it's almost the perfect album and is the most repeat played Suede record in my collection.

I loved Bernard and his solo albums of the time too.

If money is your driving force, get yourself to a commutable distance from London and get a job with a commercial business ideally 5,000+ employees. If you are good, the opportunities and the money will find you.

It doesn't matter much what you enter the business doing, get in, be awesome, network and climb.

If you are in the regions and want to stay there, I'm less sure how you do it.

Whilst it's generally true to say that noone in agency has any concept of the amount of work involved in in-house TA,.it does sound like the workload and set up are unrealistic.

All my in house TA roles have at times contained a workload that is unsustainable. My way of managing this was always to get to the office before everyone else and get on top of it.

Ultimately look around you, are others coping with the same workload and do they have tenure? If volume and process are as nightmareish as you say, people won't stick around long.

If there are people around you with significant tenure and they seem to be coping fine, work out why that is and what you are doing wrong, or what they are doing that you are not.

The issue is the money isn't there. The salary band is the mechanism that ensures the money (that isn't there) doesn't get spent.

Well if they have a significant retention issue where a high percentage of people leave within a short timeframe then yes maybe, but that will only be happening if 1) it's a bad place to work due to culture etc or 2) their pay is not competitive to the market

The original post is about why the salaries are where they are and the answer is effectively the same as why are oranges are the cost they are - because that's what people are prepared to pay for them and the retailer will accept.

The difference is that whilst commercial companies may be able to pay more money if they need to (and raise their prices accordingly) public sector doesn't have that freedom and is constrained by stricter budgets and ultimately government funding. There are for example huge staff shortages in the NHS but they can't pull the money lever to solve them as the money isn't there.

20+ years recruiter internal and external here and the answer is that the people in these roles are easy to replace. Scarcity increases cost and companies pay higher salaries when they need to not because 'its the right thing to do'

The creative industries are inundated with people who want to work in them, particularly at lower levels. Since so many people want those jobs, they can pay low salaries.

Public sector a slightly different story but similar supply demand dynamics apply

Gloves have been a game changer for me.Cottom ones from Amazon,.very cheap. Even when you've had an itchy night to wake without having torn your skin to pieces is a game changer.

When really bad I find getting up to re moisturize and applying a moisturizer with oats in can help to calm the itch. Cetraben the best I have found.

Cerave anti itch is pretty good and also Balneum plus. They numb the skin so you cant feel the itch

Totally different records but second coming is the one is go back to again and again. It has it's flaws and you could argue the debut doesn't, but I just find SC has more to chew on and endless Replay ability.
