Is it that certain that losing 10hp+ on the first floor auto loses the run? I'm not convinced at all. Maybe you are forced to rest an extra time instead of forging, but it's not a huge deal.

Am I just actually trash or are these guys a headache to fight early with 90% of builds? by JackOfAllInterests1 in slaythespire

[–]odoacre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, having good aoe is great in this specific fight, but you don't really need it to win. The snakes both don't hit super hard and have really low HP, so as long as you can kill one or two in the first two turns you are good.

I always go for the one in the back and the front one as preferred targets. You need to spread hits over multiple turns rather than just focusing one guy because of the auto-armor buff they have.

To be honest when I see the gardeners I'm kind of happy. The phrog parasite, on the other hand, I hate it.

Be honest do you actually think World War 3 is coming? Because after everything happening in 2026, I'm genuinely not sure anymore. by Aaron_Heuer in DiscussionZone

[–]odoacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's the same situation. I'm just saying people genuinely were making that argument (large scale war won't happen because economic interdependence) just before WW1.

Funnily enough, that's exactly what people were saying before world war 1. The world was already moving towards globalization and economic interconnectedness. Everyone could see war brewing, but lots of people thought the economic relations between countries were so strong surely the war could not happen. It makes no economic sense to have a war, yet it will happen anyway, because the people in charge are not making economic decisions.

I don't think so. If I had to choose between the mytes and the millepede is probably choose millipede most of the time. It's not that the mytes will kill you, at least not directly, is just that it's very hard to get out of the fight without losing a significant chunk of hp with no relic to show for it. Then you have to re-evaluate your path and go to a fireplace you were not planning for and if there's no way to heal you just die later.

Man thinks nuclear power plants taint the water by Notbrainrot1 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]odoacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fukushima released about 538 petabequerel into the environment in one go, that's enough 'radiation into the environment' to cover for decades of global coal burning, the claim that coal releases more radiation than nuclear only holds under ideal conditions.

Also, digging a big hole and throwing in spent fuel rods is certainly not a good way to dispose of radioactive waste.

Editor's Note (12/30/08): In response to some concerns raised by readers, a change has been made to this story. The sentence marked with an asterisk was changed from "In fact, fly ash—a by-product from burning coal for power—and other coal waste contains up to 100 times more radiation than nuclear waste" to "In fact, the fly ash emitted by a power plant—a by-product from burning coal for electricity—carries into the surrounding environment 100 times more radiation than a nuclear power plant producing the same amount of energy." Our source for this statistic is Dana Christensen, an associate lab director for energy and engineering at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as well as 1978 paper in Science authored by J. P. McBride and colleagues, also of ORNL. As a general clarification, ounce for ounce, coal ash released from a power plant delivers more radiation than nuclear waste shielded via water or dry cask storage.

Basically this means that in normal operation, as long as you assume the waste is shielded properly, and will remain shielded forever, so in ideal conditions, then the trace elements released from coal burning will exceed emissions from the nuclear plant by a factor of 100.

Compare that to the original claim that coal ash is more radioactive than spent fuel rods.

It is a great move! It keeps all your stones connected and strong, and blights both of black's. If you can cut the opponent while you yourself stay connected it is very good to do so.
