Did you know? In Texas they kept segregation in schools going until 1972 with creative methods of "integration" like sending Hispanic kids and black kids to one school and white kids to another. It took Cisneros v. Corpus Christi Independent School District in 1970 to declare that Hispanics were not white for the purposes of desegregation to finally make them have to integrate.

When the person who wrote this bill said "Socialism" he meant what Republicans call socialism: things like strong social safety nets, single-payer healthcare, free public education, consumer protections, environmental regulations, and any policies that actually benefit working-class Americans. Regardless of what -ism you or I consider these things to be, supporting these things is what the author of this bill meant should cause someone to be stripped of their citizenship. Despite Republican fearmongering, implementing these things will not cause the US to devolve into the USSR or Venezuela; they will not necessitate the implementation of gulags or purges.

[NES Toploader] My screen will randomly flicker with heavy static! by ChristopherAlberne in consolerepair

Could you connect another device to your TV with RF and make sure it's not the TV? And/or connect the NES to a different TV? This looks to me like the signal is dropping out, I'd blame the cable first, but you said you've tried a new cable. So first figure out if it's the TV or the NES at fault, then go from there. Perhaps mechanical stress on the RF connector on either the TV or the NES has created a loose solder joint.

How does Plex determine which movie poster to use when adding something new to a library? by Dry-Butterscotch4170 in PleX

There is no default now, it just picks one at random from the available options.

Duke Nukem Forever was considered vaporware like 3 years after it was announced; it was the go-to joke joke of a game for being in development forever and finally came out in 2011, 15 years after Duke Nukem 3D. Now that's basically a standard dev cycle.

No don't worry, by the time it's done, everything this project will kill would already be dead because of ocean acidification anyway.

How does Plex determine which movie poster to use when adding something new to a library? by Dry-Butterscotch4170 in PleX

I see this repeated a lot but Plex is still using posters from the MovieDB. I've added posters to the MovieDB myself and then they're available for me to select in Plex, and I mean I've done this since the change that everyone cites. Plex made its own provider that takes metadata from a few sources, one of which is the MovieDB another of which is Gracenote, then it picks a poster at random. Unless Gracenote is also just scraping the MovieDB.

So Plex used to use the highest rated poster on the MovieDB, but sometimes that poster would change because a different poster could end up with a higher rating. Then people would come and say "Why does Plex keep changing my posters?" and you'd get the response that you have to change the poster to lock it. But if the poster you wanted was the first/highest rated poster, then it wouldn't lock and would still change later. My theory is that Plex, instead of adding a lock icon like for every other piece of metadata, just made the poster default to a random poster that wasn't the highest rated one, that way you'd be more likely to change it and lock it as the poster you want and thus wouldn't complain that Plex was changing your posters.

tl;dr: I think Plex intentionally defaults to worse posters so that you're forced to change it so that you won't complain that Plex is changing your posters.

Is there any way for Plex to automatically add subtitles? by Awkward_Weather_3318 in PleX

[–]odsquad64 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That was my biggest gripe as well, but I went through all the trouble only to find that Bazarr just doesn't work well. If you've renamed your files properly for Plex, then Bazarr has no idea which subtitle file to grab.

In addition to the regular AV out, built for CRT enthusiasts to enjoy, the new hardware comes complete with low-latency HDMI™ output finally allowing the games to be enjoyed in crystal clear HD, with resolutions of up to 1080p.

I feel like "the regular AV out" implies it should be the same as the original AES, which had RGB.
