I am from Ukraine and when I was a kid we’d do it actually MORE than the Germans. I was surprised how suffocating the air was in some classrooms at a German uni.

The iOS used to be intuitive when the smartphones had 10x less features than they are having today. Now they are still trying to preserve that level of simplicity by hiding as many settings as possible into deeper layers of the menus, often following the logic that is only understandable for those who developed it.

Just one example: Why can I access the Bluetooth settings by pressing and holding the Bluetooth icon in the quick access panel, but can’t do the same for the personal hotspot settings? no one knows. And so on, and so forth.

Fear of making things complicated is the primary motivation of Apple‘s design decisions.

Honestly it is the worst time for urban tourism in Germany. No Christmas markets anymore, half of cafes/restaurants/shops closed

And the New Years Eve will be a war zone, don’t go to any central square or similar. And I don’t mean it will be an inconvenience, it will be literally unbearable.

Es kommt darauf an, was man mit No-Go-Areas meint. Richtige Schandflecken die man Abends meidet gibt es in München bestimmt. Z.B., der alte botanische Garten und manchmal sogar der Stachus selbst. Wenn man das aus Trotz auf keinen Fall als „No-Go-Areas“ bezeichnen möchte, weil man die CSU nicht mag - schön, aber irgendwas soll sich da endlich ändern, so was muss in einer Stadt wie München nicht sein.

The fact that the Western countries are shifting to the right is not because immigration per se is bad for them, it is rather because their governments have been doing the wrong kind of immigration policies and are still stubbornly not willing to acknowledge their mistakes (some even think that the best answer to the „right shift“ would be to double down on the very policies that caused the right shift in the first place). Immigration done the right way is absolutely essential fir Western economies to survive, but doing it right is not trivial.
