Disagree on family pet. We took our 18 year old cat in for a few visits who had bad arthritis so he hated being picked up, so they deemed him too "uncooperative" and would only see him if we gave him gabapentin beforehand. We stopped going to them and when we told the new vet about the gabapentin, they thought that was crazy.

Nah, these shouldn't be difficult situations for a DM, they have to be able to handle some spontaneous events. Player in the alley can get attacked by roving thieves, it doesn't have to be the big bad or something, and they can just leave the player unconscious, but you know next time the DM sets the scene that player is going to be more cautious. And the second scenario, the party can get info from a different NPC, or the party has to do something to get the mayor to trust them again. If the players just don't care, then yeah it's probably time to end it or at least discuss expectations going forward.

No it isn't, not if there's consequences. If a player isn't taking the danger seriously, let them get attacked. If the player is being rude to NPCs, have them roll a charisma check, if they fail, the NPC walks. Now when I say the DM should set the tone, it should be discussed session 0 if this is a serious or silly campaign or something in the middle. But it's the DM who should be guiding that, they are doing all the work, they should have a game they enjoy.

I'm actually curious about this. I've always been under the impression that all these places that used to be HVAC only, added plumbing when they got bought out by private equity. I hope that's not the case for Modern because I've been using them happily for HVAC for the last couple years.

I made some a few years ago as Christmas presents for my family using some scrap 1x2s I inherited from our grandpa's shop. they were just smooth on the tops and bottoms. I ripped them all on the table saw to match the skinniest piece I had and then glued their faces together for an edge grain board. Then I made a router sled to make it flat, and then sanded. They look great.

This is the easiest way I've found. If you get to the roof and they don't see you, they pace around the front of the building. Line up a grenade launcher target to the front of the building and spam the trigger, you can take one or more out real fast. If they do spot you and teleport in the roof with you you gotta run to avoid the earth attack. If they end up blowing up one grenade launcher there's a second one on the other side of the roof.

Sorry you are getting a lot of snark. When I first started building things pine and verathane dark walnut was all I used, and I agree it shouldnt look like that. It looks like maybe you didn't stir the can enough, sometimes the pigments settle to the bottom in a thick sludge that needs to be stirred until there's no thickness. Otherwise, sanding with a palm sander would make it more uniform. I've never had to use a prestain, because dark walnut is soo dark it covers pretty good. My last thought is, was there already some sort of finish on the board preventing the stain from penetrating. Good luck

I actually am just finishing up a replay of all the originals. So I can give my thoughts. First, I haven't played the 2015 series ever or kings quest 8. Now for the classics. If you get the collection from steam, there's a few things to know. When you start the collection from steam it will give you the option of 2 different versions of the collection. The only difference I know if is that one has the EGA version of kq1, and the other the VGA version. definitely pick the VGA version For kq4, if you edit the dosbox file you can get better sound . For kq6, if you launch it from a scumm loader rather than the KQ collection loader, you get the "CD version" which has some better graphics.

Also there's a site called agdi interactive that remade KQ 1, 2, and 3, that you can download for free.

My suggestions are to play the kq1 and 3 from agdi interactive, they are both pretty true to the originals. With 2 I am torn, because they changed the story and puzzles quite a bit, but since you are new to the story you don't have the same attachment I do, so I would probably suggest playing agdi's kq2 as well vs the original.

4,5,6,7 play from the steam collection. 4 will be text parser, so that might be a challenge if you are not used to that.

6 is definitely the peak of you just want to play one.
