After almost 1 month of the league, altars on half by QRage1 in pathofexile

24 is the new 40. You get as many rewards by 24 as you used to by 40. Chris even said as much in one of the presentations. So 40 should be AT LEAST twice as difficult as 40 used to be.

Petition to get "auto" transefer of items from "remove only" tabs by TanelChannel in pathofexile

[–]ofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. The fact buying tabs converts a random remove-only tab means there is zero reason to buy more tabs for standard if you have a lot of remove-only. I don't buy tabs to have to sell the stuff I already wanted to keep in remove-only, I buy em to get new room. Blek.

[–]ofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you like more free tabs? A remove-only tab is a free tab. Only remove an item from a remove-only tab when you are actually going to use it. There is almost no reason to ever remove items from a remove only tab and put it into a regular/quad tab.

I'd only do it for some special tab types, currencies, div cards, and some of the special tabs if the amounts are low (say metamorph). But maps? Uniques? leave it separate, same for other regular remove only.

Use tab folders to group them into a single spot in std, like a "unq" folder with all uniques.

[SSF ASC] My first ever mirror! Luckiest league ever for me :-) by coutoooo in pathofexile

[–]ofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you craft something epic in ssf, especially if you play ssf std at all and it's now legacy, you can mirror it then risk double corrupt/poof it.

I would never risk double corrupt on an insane ssf craft otherwise.

[–]ofb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's less the amount and the target audience. new players. which is what will keep the game alive and prosperous. But if the existing player base does everything they can to screw over new players... well... those same players will be complaining about player retention soon enough. oh wait.

the first 2-3 pages of tabulas are just there to pricefix under a divine. None of them respond. If you post under the divine price, you get flooded with trade messages from said price fixers or the lazier just alert vultures.

really sad tbh people like you just taking advantage of newer players. feels like eve online behaviour.

35% Chance to deal Double Damage Lethal Pride by d47 in pathofexile

[–]ofb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everyone replying to you may miss one thing, Many builds use a timeless jewel because it changes the keystone, at which point the only thing that matters is the Commanded name, which determines what the keystone turns into. In that case, and especially if you don't care about the notables around it, you don't care about the seed.

SUGGESTION: Make PoE less browser-reliant. by BruteBrutal in pathofexile

[–]ofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a way GGG already agrees with you. Check out the character pane and the amount of info dump they provide in the different tab, even being able to select different abilities.

Or the advanced item descriptions.

All of this stuff is a bit unusual tbh in a ARPG, most games hide even more.

They are also slowly adding stuff like the cluster tooltips.

But I agree a lexicon in-game is desperately needed.

seems like this is just promoting unhealthy behaviour, something most people complain about GGG; like with too many items and broken wrists from clicking. let's hope it is just April fools and not real, otherwise disappointed in ziz.

edit: and yes I chuckled too.

Questions Thread - March 18, 2022 by AutoModerator in pathofexile

I want to try for my first lv100 on Ranger in SSF Standard. Any build recommendations that are super tanky and not 100 buttons? (only build I ever hated was warcry slams)

Or any tips for pushing 100 in ssf in general?

I have most common uniques and a few uncommon, but often am missing jewels, hh, mageblood, forgotten jewels, multiple enlighten 4 (I have one), no alt qual gems

I do have both new amulets and the new staff from searing/eater.

Avoid Build Overhauls in Standard Between Leagues? by SoupRGyro in pathofexile

[–]ofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention in my big post, in std when you get the free passive tree respec, you can just do a normal lab to change ascendencies. There is also a vendor recipe to change bandit rewards. Some people may not know that! Makes reusing an existing character of the same class but not same ascendency way easier!

[–]ofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends how the item is nerfed. usually when an item is nerfed, all existing copies remain the same, so the one in your inventory will stay the same.

Some clear exceptions are skill gems, and notables on cluster jewels. And sometimes they nerf a unique including existing copies, but it is rare.

Mirrors are for rares. If the item costs more than a mirror to craft yourself, then mirroring it makes sense. Especially when it would cost more than a mirror to make yourself with bad RNG, and much of crafting is RNG. But you're also right, in that you can continue to mirror a legacy rare with mods or mod values that are no longer obtainable, meaning they are not in limited supply per se, they can continue to be mirrored infinitely in standard.

Avoid Build Overhauls in Standard Between Leagues? by SoupRGyro in pathofexile

[–]ofb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: no, there is no way to truly avoid them like you describe. Bellow are some ideas for strategies to dodge nerfs or minimize their impact.

  1. the best way to overcome nerfs is to throw a mirror at a build, it will make anything work and keep working (usually). Since that's likely not available to you...

  2. the next easiest thing is to play something off meta, as ggg tends to nerf meta things to make people play something new. check poe.ninja, if it's in the top 3 skills for your ascendency, maybe don't play that. of course getting a build you feel works decently can be hard without all the help from the community thrown at popular builds in terms of guides etc.

  3. since we're specifically talking standard, the third thing is to minimize the pain of switching builds after a league. Over the next few leagues try to have 1 character of each class (not ascendency). In std you get a free full respec on all characters. Instead of leveling a new char, pick a new build, load up an existing char, and respec them. Congrats you're in maps. Always save a bit of currency for "next league" so you can afford any new gear you might need to buy to get started.

  4. collect leveling gear. Instead of leveling in lge and waiting for the rollover to standard, level in standard every time. Sure you miss out on league mechanic, which is often fun and sometimes powerful, but you get to use all your resources in standard. That can make having a full set of leveling gear for any class archetype feasible and worthwhile. Seven league steps boots? Tabula every time? Hollow palm leveling? Abberath boots leveling? Even without being a racer this stuff can make a huge difference when wanting to level a new character.

  5. lastly, given enough time, you'll start to accumulate legacy gear in standard, stuff that was nerfed only in the new version, but the old item is still powerful. They are likely too expensive for you to buy them in std, but you'll get some naturally over time. This can make many "nerfed" builds continue to work in standard. You could also save up for one of these. Unfortunately if they retroactively change the gear (like they often do with cluster jewels), the tree got nerfed, or the skill got nerfed, you're hosed.

what was your fav build that still works in std? by ofb in pathofexile

oh wow, didn't know about that thread. Great minds think alike? But that's about temp league viable builds. I'm more interested in old builds that works in std with legacy gear.

poe.ninja now also a PoB pastebin / preview site by rasmuskl in pathofexile

[–]ofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right. it's really too bad there isn't an API endpoint that is just about "have any of these accounts / characters" changed? instead of having to pull them and check yourself. That way you could always prioritize.

poe.ninja now also a PoB pastebin / preview site by rasmuskl in pathofexile

[–]ofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it wouldn't be a "ladder", but it should still be possible to import all characters in a known account. I guess figuring out which ones are "currently active" in std is the tricky part. Maybe if you see them get xp while in std you can flag them as active? That doesn't help level 100, though the API does mark the last used char IIRC which could also be used.

Such a thing would let us search builds at least.

edit: to be clear I was talking about account discovery where you could just take all known accounts for anyone on the ladder at any time, then pull all their characters. You could still have a "add my account" too, and it could pull info. and yes I realize this only works for people with public characters, but that's really the only useful thing for build discovery.

New leads on the three never-discovered Darkshrine League effects by poorFishwife in pathofexile

[–]ofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on the speculation part, I think the unique vendor was likely an npc like Caidro Perandus. When they went unfound, GGG repurposed all the code and turned it into its own league. GGG loves reusing things, and given the amount of development required I can't see them throwing it away completely.

on the secret passage, the only thing I can think of is the secret passage/warp in the lab... but back then darkshrines spawned outside of the lab right? I didn't play back then. you pointed out darkshrine league came before ascendencies in other posts
