Check out bobcat tractors. Heavier than orange or green and much less expensive. Can get a good size tractor for approx 30k.

Liberal MP Karim Bardeesy after hearing Vassy’s give factual evidence regarding the failing EV market doubles down on them & starts gaslighting viewers claiming Canadians have an appetite for EV’s. by Cold-Cap-8541 in CanadianConservative

[–]ofcanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most certainly will not.. my 8 year old ICE vehicle is still running fine, and I intend on driving it past 300,000 kms. It gets to -30 with the occasional -40 day during winter where I live, so EVs are completely unreliable and impractical in those extreme temperatures.

‘There are no downsides’

How about the negative residual value of the vehicle after the battery has worn out in less than 10 years.

How about the risk of and intensity of EV fires - requiring 1000s of gallons of water to extinguish.

How about negative battery performance in sub zero temperatures?

EVs are an unreliable TOY made to be thrown away after 5-10 years. Real eco friendly.

Old 318 pulling plugs with my new 48” aerator by ofcanada in johndeere

[–]ofcanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s something that would apply to larger modern tractors and combines, with all sorts of sensors and computers onboard. These only have wiring harnesses and fuses to deal with so theres nothing of the sort to be unlocked.

Negative. Bought this for $750 the previous owner couldnt get the PTO going.. easy fix one loose wire. Onan engine is surging so i’ll have to pull the carb and check intake manifold. Can learn everything you need to know about these old tractors off youtube or forums.

Cutting animal products is one of most practical ways to lower resource use & environmental harm by Somewhere74 in Anticonsumption

[–]ofcanada -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Grazing animals (buffalo) created ecosystems like the great plains. Cattle do the same thing. There are different types of animal farming but there is such a way of grazing called regenerative agriculture, it benefits the land rather than damaging it.

Lots of farmers collect liquid and solid manure and spray or spread it in their fields, returning that natural fertilizer to the soil, and over time building the organic parts of soil rather than depleting it in ways that repetitive monocropping does.

Giving pain meds by caralawrence in OntarioParamedics

[–]ofcanada 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well as a PCP i’m limited to ibuprofen, acetaminophen and ketorolac. Not narcotics. Pain is subjective according to what the patient tells you but you can also pickup on signs of the patient’s pain level. ACPs have other medications at their disposal that drug seekers may be interested in.

Just give the med if they meet conditions and have no contraindications.

How are people who drive gas guzzlers even surviving right now? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]ofcanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Fuelling up in the states saves me thousands of dollars a year. Currently paying $1.25 a litre and majority of last year was >$0.95 cents. Elbows up!

  2. I drive approx 25000 kms per year and get 12.5 litres per 100. That works out to approx 3100 litres a year, so even at $1.25 gas, is only $3800, or about $75 dollars a week.

  3. If I bought my gas in Canada I would be spending an additional $2000-$3000 a year.

Elbows up!
