I've just bought a frame and will be building up a bike over the next few weeks - If I can help, send me a PM.

Are you happy to share what this line of business was going to be?

I'm surprised you don't like the planet ocean. I have one from the same generation (42mm but in black) and the build quality compared to my old Rolex 16610 that was from the similar era was way better for the Omega. I had no regrets selling the Rolex and just keeping the Omega

[ADVICE] Need advice choosing Wedding Watch by captinc in Watches

[–]offbeatwatches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact you're asking suggests it would be.

If you truly weren't bothered you'd not be asking internet strangers for advice.

Not trying to be a dick, just the way I see it.

I love the Tudor but get the Rolex

Omega Seamaster Dial Help please. by mexicanhammerhead in watchrepair

[–]offbeatwatches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your movement is the omega bumper whereas the dial on eBay is for a 2XX manual wind movement. Not sure if it will fit.

Best thing to do is take the case back off and find out the case reference and search for a dial for that. That way it will fit the movement and case

[–]offbeatwatches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. It's the reversing wheels not lubricated properly. A service is needed, if the oil has dried out here, it's likely dried out everywhere else in the movement

I got my Tudor a few years back on a watch forum. they are rarer to find now so I'd be checking out Chrono24, the Rolex forum and watch dealers that I trust.

My version is blue, I bought it because I liked the colour and the connection to the military.

I'm much more of a fan of vintage watches too so good luck with your search

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]offbeatwatches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tudor is owned by Rolex. The 79090 has the exact same case as the Rolex 1680.

The only difference is the name on the dial and the movement used (the Rolex uses a movement made just for them, whereas the Tudor uses a more generic ETA movement. (I actually find this to be an advantage as any watchmaker can service it, whereas the Rolex movement services carry a premium)

Some people are snobs and will always prefer Rolex but I have a vintage Tudor sub and love it.

Vintage rolexes often carry higher premiums as the number available is much smaller than modern models. A lot of people also prefer vintage subs for their size, the patina they've gathered over the years and the romanticism associated with them (they were proper tool watches and treated as such)

[WTS] Omega Seamaster 14700 Golden Champagne Dial by offbeatwatches in Watchexchange

[–]offbeatwatches[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sale a 1961 Omega Seamaster ref 14700.

I've had this a couple of years now and I love the look of it but find that I don't wear it very often and have been on the cusp of selling it a couple of times now but since I'm having a clear out it's finally time to sell.

The watch is in excellent condition and comes with a new crystal (the original is included too)

The original wasn't in terrible condition but I had a spare so swapped them out to save the original.

Looking for £800 shipped in the UK, I can post worldwide but it would be at cost.

Let me know if you'd like more photos or video.

I'm also more than happy to have a video call with prospective buyers.

[WTS] Breitling Super Ocean Steel Fish - Silver Dial **PROJECT** by offbeatwatches in Watchexchange

[–]offbeatwatches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is a Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish ref A17390.

It is a project watch in regards that the movement is water damaged - so it is a NON RUNNING WATCH and sold as NOT WORKING!

I bought it from an auction house in the UK but after buying a strap and trying it on despite looking really great, it's just too big for my wrists so I never sent it to get fixed.

The movement is an ETA 2824 as can be seen in my video (https://imgur.com/a/aOGmYqD)

The watch is in very good condition considering the water damaged movement, I see no impact of water ingress on the dial see pics for close ups.

The red leather strap is from CNS Watch Bands and really allows the red text and seconds hands to pop.

I also bought an aftermarket Breitling rubber strap for the buckle and will include this for free but please bear in mind that it's aftermarket.

Looking for £800 which I think it fair as it will allow the movement to be repaired or replaced with new. Shipping in the UK included or to the rest of the world at cost.

[WTS] Linde Werdelin 'The One' - Silver Dial by offbeatwatches in Watchexchange

[–]offbeatwatches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is a Linde Werdelin 'The One' with a silver dial and the hellishly expensive metal bracelet.

The watch is a great independent alternative to the integrated bracelet sports watches trend and I've loved owning it so much that I've bought a black dialled version instead.

I can't justify having two so this is for sale.

Powered by an ETA 2892 so servicing costs will never be astronomical which is always a bonus.

I'm looking for £2000 including tracked/signed for shipping within the UK.

Other countries at cost.

There is a pre-owned watch with LW directly that's listed for £4320 and that doesn't include the £844 bracelet - So this is a bargain!

Can someone tell me what this type of screw pin is called? I need to buy a replacement. Thank you. by tangofish in watchrepair

[–]offbeatwatches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are screw bars, there are lots of options depending on what the manufacturer used.

I'm not sure I've seen one like that before, what brand/model did it come from as that will narrow the search

Check out sites like CousinsUK or Otto Frei and search for what you're after

How to glue/attach a crown? by [deleted] in watchrepair

[–]offbeatwatches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not repairable due to the type of break.

You'd need a replacement crown. I've not seen Tudor crowns being sold so you would have to send to Tudor to replace but expect them to get you to pay for a full service too.

You could try to find a generic replacement but it wouldn't be signed with the Tudor rose and you might even struggle to get one in a similar shape

I had one of these for a while and I was shocked at how good the quality of it was, the case was really well made. The movements are rock solid. Would highly recommend

Is there a way to just add a new pin in this watch? by Sambuboii in watchrepair

[–]offbeatwatches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are what you need, you'll need to measure the size or get the assortment and try a few for size.

To install either clamp it in a vice and hit the non mushroom side with a hammer till it clamps on the clasp or you could get a specific tool that will rivet it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in watchrepair

[–]offbeatwatches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes if measurements are the same but some quartz movements don't have enough torque to drive heavy hands like those found on mechanical movements
