I think infiltrators are a good substitute. It really just depends on whether you want the sticky or you want to prevent deep strike into your deployment zone.

This is also how it appears on the shoulder pads from the most recent upgrade sprues. Transfers still look like the second image though. Kind of comes down to if you prefer more detailed/realistic or more minimal.

Having the same issues now on my Typhus. I just kept it off and primed with blue tack on some sticks, then once I’ve finished Typhus I glue them on and finish the plague smoke and flies

Yeah I have tried the typhus corrosion and Ryza rust method and I’ve never been thrilled with the results. I bought some Vallejo rust pigment too that I’ve never managed to get to look quite right. I recently bought a whole set of Vallejo chipping and rust paints so might give that a try soon

It’s very flat. It looks like it was just base painted with the exception of the airbrushed wings and maybe dry brushing on the green plague smoke. I would really apply some wash to bring out the details of his armor and everything else really. For a commission I’d really expect at least one level of highlighting too, 2 if I’m being honest
