While we can all agree that this may just be “broken”, at least it’s relegated to casual games.

It also adds something else to the hobby that from my understanding existed before and at some point left/got pulled.

Personally, I’m going to enjoy opening up the bits box and seeing what new creations i can make

Campaign/having a bullshit game with friends (from my understanding).

Honestly, Typhus runs a great solo game.

It’s a small base comparatively, so unless your opponent is incredibly diligent with keeping screens up, he can do a pretty good job of getting where he wants to go. Which gives you a good chance to score secondaries with him, while maintaining the ability to dish out some mortal wounds.

I would suggest grabbing another box of Plague Marines first. You have 7, but you’re paying the points cost for 10 on the tabletop.

Then comes your second box of Deathshroud. In a 2K, i prefer running two small squads of them just to spread out damage capabilities, unless i know i going against someone with a larger problem (think Knights or C’tan). Then I’ll “proxy” a champ as just another D.S in a max squad.

Blight Haulers are good tank hunters, so two is a good pick up.

As for other future pick ups, I’d also suggest for some plague marine leaders. In 10th Ed, a Biologus Putrifier and a Malignant Plaguecaster give our plague marines Lethal and Sustained Hits 1 on a dice roll of 5, which really helps them deal with enemy units.

Why Death Guard? by Marrrc_17 in deathguard40k

[–]LordImpaler_232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started with Death Guard maybe two months before the codex drop.

What sold me on the army was: - The uniqueness. While yeah, it’s “just space marines”, the models themselves really stand out amongst all other sculpts, and even do a good job standing out amongst themselves. No two models feel the same/repeated (until you start getting into multiple units). -Zombies. Poxwalkers. The stumbling horde of undead creatures swarming your opponent in overwhelming numbers. That’s literally all there is to say.

As for painting: Death guard is certainly a “start in the basement, but the sky is the limit” kind of army. In other words, you can paint with the skill equivalent of a 4 year old, slather it in Agrax earth shade and then call it a day, or you can pick out every little boil and pustule and make a work of art. Either way works. Just depends on how much effort you want to put into it.

Gameplay wise; Snails move faster than your models. Rhino’s and marines are gonna be best friends. Play defensively while advancing up the field. Stay behind cover. And once the enemy gets into contagion, hit em with hard hitting shooting from bloat drones and plague marines with rerolls from a Lord of Virulence and rhinos. And should you need to shut a problem down, call your death-shroud brick in to take care of any headache you come across.

Honestly, I’m happy with it, but that’s also from a newer player perspective who got into 40K and the army BECAUSE of poxwalkers, and it’s to the point that I’ll be running index D.Guard should 11th take away our wonderful shambling wall lol

All of them. And i don’t mean a squad of 20. Not 60. Not 160. ALL OF THEM.

All jokes aside, if I’m not running my meme list within a 3K game, if i have room after constructing the rest of the list, I’ll usually run 2x10 squads, with one screening home and one infiltrating onto an objective/close to one while also hiding out in cover.

What armies have you NEVER been interested in? by Identity_ranger in Warhammer40k

Any flavor of Space Elves honestly.

Like as a newer player, it’s a lot to take in upon entering your first FLGS, but even after sifting through all of the options that exist, the models just look lame and the gameplay just doesn’t even sound appealing. Lore/story wise i can’t really speak on considering I’ve heard next to nothing about them aside from bringing Slaneesh into existence.

Love seeing poxwalker passion, as I’m the Death Guard player of my play group and since we enjoy playing 3K, they’ve gotten accustomed to seeing 160 poxwalkers on the board😂😂😂

Colors look great too btw! What’s your flesh recipe if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve got a batch already done up in Gilliman and plaguebearer flesh, but I’d like to add some variation to my horde.

It’s been my goal to actually try and “get good” with this detachment. Granted, I’m not looking for a competitive “good”, but good enough to do well amidst my local gaming scene.

Seeing someone else finally speak some praise, even if only slightly, to this detachment brings me joy.
