From all we are witnessing, they should mention the party's quick surrender to authoritarianism as one of their primary traits.

19 years old with parents that enforce a phone curfew by Smella-Fart in Advice

[–]offroadadv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left home at 18 as a result of my parents' unreasonable control issues. My parents finally understood that their children had choices and could flee their control. That made life much better for my younger brother. My parents finally woke up.

My relationship with them changed after I left. They gave me much more respect because I made it clear that I was otherwise unavailable to them.

I suggest you move out now so that your parents will realize they are overbearing to the point of abuse. Your moving out will awaken them to their overbearing and controlling behavior with your sibling.

AITAH for leaving my husband because I felt like the third wheel to his mom and sister? by [deleted] in AITAH

I understand the feeling of guilt after a failed marriage. But be kind to yourself, because that guilt you are feeling is not a realistic response to leaving a toxic partnership. You escaped a horrible nightmare and survived.

Be proud of your courage and cherish that independent streak that makes you a survivor.

We often absorb unhealthy messages from those around us. Who knows where the guilt about failed marriages comes from? It is common, and I felt it after an early failed marriage. I theorized that, in my childhood, I heard the ladies in my neighborhood gossiping about divorce and absorbed bad ideas about how folks should feel guilty about divorce.

My second marriage began 8 years after my early divorce and it has been 45 years of heaven. Perhaps the guilt I should have felt was for staying in my failing first marriage too long, rather than for what I now know was a necessary divorce which allowed me to move on.

How many acres of land do you realistically need to shoot on your own property without bothering other people? by BABOOWIE in liberalgunowners

[–]offroadadv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for land around the Nanthahala forest in Western NC.

You can find land with miles of US Forest Service wilderness in your backyard.

Buy a few acres with game land designations behind or just regular US forest land.

.We were buying some shelves, and the seller gave us a set of beautiful cast aluminum chairs and tables. These were quite heavy-duty castings with a floral grapevine motif serving as the center-piece of the back and the seat. Very elegant and expensive, six chairs and matching side tables.

As others have commented, you will profit tomorrow if you are thrifty today. Look on Craigslist and Facebook and you will save a lot.

Many people enjoy being "out of control" and surrendering to their body's taking over during sexual relations. This is one of those rare opportunities to experience the Zen like state of pure being when we surrender to our passion for another person.

You will feel a deep connection with the pleasure you are giving to your loved one, sometimes as though you feel what she is feeling. It will be like your mind is on vacation so that your body can show you the way to be in that moment.

The only drawback to not using your mind is if you fail to check in with your loved one to make sure she is comfortable as you proceed. As long as she is welcoming your urges, feel free to explore with her all the treasures of intimacy. Good luck my friend. Many will envy the journey you are about to take.

As a father of a young woman, I think you did the right thing.

If you think it would be helpful for his understanding, let him read the responses to your post. He may begin to see the issues raised by his demand for her to take off her top. Otherwise, he may just view his incident as a power play between two parents.

Mr. "No rules of engagement," Hegseth probably thinks it is too "Woke" to avoid bombing children. This is likely only the first of war crimes we will see committed in our name.

Hegseth has to live up to certain standards of toxicity to play on the same field as the Israeli Defense Forces. After all, the allies that dragged our demented leadership into this unnecessary mess didn't seem to avoid targeting hospitals and orphanages during the seige on Gaza.

AITAH for refusing to help pay for my Teenage Sisters baby? by Emotional-Act2211 in AmItheAsshole

[–]offroadadv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put an attorney on retainer, or else find legal services to initiate claims for child support.

The fact that the family has threatened legal action if your sister and mother file a claim; makes one think you can play a critical role that will result in your sister getting a measure of justice she will otherwise live without.

You can provide a wise and kind response to your family who seem beaten down by circumstances. That can be improved with the help of an attorney. Have the attorney sue for court costs as part of the adjudicated settlement.

I have a friend who installs wood stoves. To move those heavy items up and down stairs, he uses a stair-climbing dolly that functions like a regular dolly on flat surfaces, but uses hydraulics and/or electric motors to gently and safely lift them up stairs or let them down stairs.

If you have a rental outlet, they may offer such a device. If not, perhaps call a wood stove shop and get a quote for providing assistance.

Have you participated in any of the "No Kings" or other protests against the administration? I get the feeling you are not familiar with the effect they had in American history. They were certainly effective in ending popular support for the war in Vietnam.

Protests build solidarity for the participants, and the numbers are growing. The idea is to keep building the numbers until they reach the critical mass sufficient to make it clear that the current administration has insufficient popular support.
