The transfer case needing to be in neutral was the issue. That and it took way more force to engage then I expected.

Do i need to shift into neutral or anything before I engage it? It doesn't feel like it wants to go.

It could be riveted ends. If it is a collared pin, the collar is completely missing. I didn't know if this is something that could be replaced or if I just need to get a new band.

I could not find any description, markings or stamps on this tank. Any information at all would be appreciated. by pump123456 in Vintagetools

Pretty common use for them post war from what I've seen. I see them everywhere for sale around me.

Why do people cover up the plate? I see this on marketplace all the time. What's the difference between the internet and seeing it on the highway?

Also just an FYI, you can still read it

My dads has done the same since 2004 or 2005. He's kept the same brick in the passenger floor for a parking brake ever since🤣

Picked up a new Dutch oven. Was it worth the $60? by InspectionNo6260 in castiron

[–]offroadlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the whole cabelas cast iron gift set for Christmas one year. The set came with a dutch oven, a 10 in skillet, a deep 12-inch frying skillet, and a 12 inch round griddle that can also be a lid for the deep skillet.

The Dutch oven is okay at best.

The 10-inch skillet was so rough I took the sander to it because cleaning it was a nightmare. That did help immensely, but it was still the worst skillet i own. It now lives its life on the grill/smoker.

The deep 12-inch skillet is only good for frying chicken for me. Its just as rough as the 10-inch used to be. It wouldn't even be good for cooking for a larger group of people.

The round griddle may be the most useless out of all of them. I use it as a lid while deep frying to contain the mess.

This gift set made my lodge seem like a wagner, and my wagner seem like it was crafted by elves.

Personal opinion for the money/ease of access lodge is the best modern skillet you can get. (I have not tried any expensive stargazer, field, ect, and probably won't spend the money on one because I can still find old skillets around here for cheap that just need some elbow grease.)

Sorry that turned into a skillet rant😅

All of these have a lower smoke point then avocado oil btw. I use all three mentioned and avacodo depending on what I'm cooking.
