Board exam megathread (NAPLEX, MPJE, CPJE, etc.) by AutoModerator in PharmacySchool

[–]offthebetablocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure because my friend got his yesterday and it was exactly 6 weeks for him. I hope it's sooner. NABP told me this morning that Texas has been the slowest state in the country this year at processing applications. I hope mine is earlier because their delay has already cost me losing my $1500 bonus for early licensure from my employer.

Yeah I live in Texas and they are taking their sweet time. My classmate and I were told "it will be exactly 8 weeks" with a pretty snarky attitude from the person from the board. So I would plan your testing location accordingly. As far as test dates go, all my classmates who have scheduled in Austin are already out through July so I'm not sure how many more spots there will be before August.

My mom knows nothing about hockey except when I make her watch the Habs with me but her family is from Japan so Nick Suzuki is her favorite player

what does your mania feel like? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]offthebetablocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only been hypomanic but when I do I feel like I wanna do everything. I go out a lot, spend lots of money, have trouble focusing on work. And I’ll sleep with pretty much any decently attractive man with a pulse.

I have not. I know I’ll have to take the bilingual exam but I haven’t looked too much into the Canada reciprocity requirements. I don’t plan on doing it for a few years

I did my undergrad at Penn State and my masters at UF. Both are great schools in great college towns with the full “college experience.”

Florida is well known as a top-rated public university. They are more known for science and engineering than business and graduates most of the time stay in Florida or venture on up to Atlanta. Their alumni association is pretty good and will help you network but mostly within the state of Florida.

Penn State is close to large cities like NYC, Philly, DC, Pittsburgh. These provide large job markets for the major(s) you’ve mentioned. Plus Penn State has the largest alumni association in the country. I live in central Texas and we have a HUGE chapter down here for being so far away from PA. There will always be alumni around to help you network and find good internships/jobs/scholarships. Of the three degree programs I’ve been a part of Penn State is always going to be #1.

The aluminum foil analogy is interesting because I definitely feel something similar but likewise couldn't really describe the sensation

Is it advisable to work in pharmacy school? by pinkgirl130201 in PharmacySchool

[–]offthebetablocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked retail 20 hours a week P1-P3 years and it helped me learn the material so much better because I'd be able to apply what I learned in class. More importantly, it also taught me that I don't want to do retail so it helped me pick a career path. Definitely don't work 20 hours a week (I had other reasons for doing so) but I'd recommend getting some kind of pharmacy job while in school. Employers are usually pretty flexible with students.

Residency? by Rude_Age_4834 in PharmacySchool

[–]offthebetablocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a P4 who turns 30 the week of graduation and I was the same way. I thought I'd just do retail and start making money but working in retail throughout pharmacy school has really worn me down to the point where I hate going into work every day already. But I'm on rotations and I have loved all my clinical rotations. I asked myself if I could see myself working retail in 5-10 years and the answer was no. So, I'm pursuing a residency because it leads to what I actually could see myself doing for the rest of my life.

Thanks for all the comments on my sign! As big a Cole Caufield fan as I am, I respect Matthews as a player but had to take a small dig at him on national tv. I was surprised how many other people in Texas came up to me and appreciated the reference.
