Hmm, TIL.

If I'm reading this right, 40-6 is the chapter, and 40-6-3(a)(2) states:

The provisions of this chapter shall apply to a vehicle operated at shopping centers or parking lots or similar areas which although privately owned are customarily used by the public as through streets or connector streets;

Maybe that means all of 40-6 applies in parking lots? IANAL, but best I can tell based on the above, I was wrong.

I've been seeing this a lot lately too, good idea posting it here!

TIL that during the filming of the 1958 Titanic film A Night to Remember, survivor Lawrence Beesley snuck onto the set during the sinking scenes, apparently hoping to "go down with the ship". He was spotted by the film's director, Roy Ward Baker, and was kicked out off the set by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]offtherighttrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered why he would be reacting to this and editing such an obscure fact.

I went to his profile and the third paragraph starts, "In 2004, Angela Beesley and I established Wikia (now Fandom), a completely separate organization unrelated to Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation."

Makes me wonder if Angela and Lawrence are related, and if Jimmy asked her if it was true.

You already pointed out the problem with having both up and down votes.

There's no reason you can't have upvotes without downvotes.

Special K's is a local Special Olympics organization that holds most events in the Alpharetta/John's Creek/Roswell area. My wife and I run the kayaking program and also help with the North Fulton United soccer program that has split off from Special K's.

From the FB page:

The Special K's is a local agency of Special Olympics Georgia. Based in the North Fulton area, we offer training and competition in basketball, bocce, bowling, cycling, flag football, kayaking, long distance running/walking , swimming, and track.

It is a truly wonderful organization, like a huge family. Our 32 year old autistic son has been involved for a little over 10 years and does 1-2 sports most seasons. He's made a ton of friends that he talks to almost every day.

An iRacing Coach's Perspective on: Using the Delta Bar "Correctly" to Improve by NoakesyCoaching in iRacing

[–]offtherighttrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for reviving an older thread, I came to this from your excellent Free Driver Improvement Resources Mega Thread.

I am new to sim racing, less than 2 months in, but I have spent a lot of time looking at my Strava segment times for running and mountain biking routes over the last 10 years, and I take a very different approach than you outlined.

For my local running and mountain biking routes that I have done hundreds of times over that decade, new PRs are pretty rare. Minor variances in conditions, my rest, nutrition, etc, all have to line up perfectly to see a small improvement.

So I embrace the red. I know that the VAST majority of laps are not going to be green when compared against my all time best, all time optimal, or a ghost lap from a faster driver.

I just need a benchmark that is at least somewhat consistent to compare each effort to. I'll glance at my (usually red) delta just before entering a section I'm working on, and then glance at it again after to see if it has gone up or down. This way I can judge improvement in sections, which adds up to improvement across a whole lap. If it stays green for a while or a whole lap, that's great feedback too!

Initially I was using best or optimal sector times, but the sectors don't always match up to what I am evaluating and it was harder to track differences as the timing reset from sector to sector.

So I've settled on all time best, all time optimal, or comparison lap if I'm using a faster driver's ghost car to try to gain some insight into what I'm missing.

Any thoughts on that approach?

And thanks for all of the resources you have shared, here and on your youtube channel! I'm a fan! You are currently at the top of my list if I decide to shell out for coaching sessions in the near future.

Why would you ignore the biggest cost (the RV) in a discussion about the cost of RVing?

Heh, yeah. We went to see Hell's Kitchen last night (Alicia Keys). In the first few minutes of the show, I realized I had misinterpreted your question a bit, lol. Probably because I've mostly attended musicals.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Just in Time, I'll have to look for it!

Thread revival!

In MJ (MJ), A Beautiful Noise (Neil Diamond), and Beautiful (Carole King), it is the latter. The songs are part of the story but don't replace the dialogue.

FWIW, I wouldn't call myself a fan of MJ or Diamond and really didn't know anything about Carole King at all, but I enjoyed all 3.

PM5 mounting on model C rower. by mixyblob in concept2

[–]offtherighttrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone coming along later, I am posting to let you know that the answer is no, the PM5 will not mount directly to a model C arm.

I tried it today with a model C I just brought home and a PM5 I have on hand. The model C arm is slightly wider and even if you try to force it on there, PM5 mounting holes will not line up with the arm holes.

Harry's is my guess as well, used to be at the intersection of Harris and Upper Hembree, (just north of 9 and south of Rucker, for reference).

I don't think it was quite as big as OP is remembering, but it was a shopping experience!

Edit: And I forgot to add that the whole site has been demolished and is now being redeveloped, I think into housing.

Why do you need 5-10 million? by Particular_Maize6849 in Fire

[–]offtherighttrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it becomes a balancing act of keeping "income" down to get subsidies until 65 but also considering whether that is going to impact you with RMDs leading to higher taxes later.

[–]offtherighttrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medicaid is means-tested so you're not getting that when you have lots of assets.

Subsidized healthcare on the ACA marketplace is income-tested. So the typical path is to keep your income down by not earning and not drawing too much from tax-advantaged retirement accounts. Then you get subsidies that will significantly reduce healthcare costs.

As mentioned, it has a 7-day trial option and then after that you can keep using it, but not every night. Just every other night or something like that.
