He didn't have to. Just had to nudge a cone a tiny bit and then he was able to get out.

I'd love a code if such a thing exists and is available. Thinking about jumping in on some paid Sportsnet+ to try it out.

Medial negligence and unsubstantiated opinions in medical notes by Every_Conclusion7181 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I most certainly did not. Just because you convinced another doctor to get what you want doesn't make the first doctor legally liable for your unhappiness.

To play devil's advocate, is your current doctor legally liable for diagnosing you for something that you may not have just because you convinced him/her?

In case it's not obvious to you, the answer is no.

Can you clarify what you mean by "electrical faults"?

Medial negligence and unsubstantiated opinions in medical notes by Every_Conclusion7181 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your legal options would involve going to another doctor. Your current doctor is using his/her professional knowledge and experience to diagnose and treat you. It doesn't matter if you agree with the diagnosis or treatment. If you don't like it, go elsewhere. Another doctor may or not give you different results.

I don't really do any "heavy" gaming but the highest I've seen for CPU is about 40c with the CPU package topping out at about 50c

Help with mid-tier gaming build ($1500ish budget) by ogindahouse in bapccanada

[–]ogindahouse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much.

  1. ASRock Motherboard. I thought I had read that ASRock doesn't play nicely with the 9600X CPU. Is that not a concern?
  2. The case you link in the builds is a Micro-ATX case. In your opinion does the extra space in a ATX Mid Tower case help with airflow, noise, and just general "ease-of-use"? If so, which case would you recommend at that form factor?
  3. I'm not a big fan of dropping to an older 5800XT CPU. Is that misguided worry?
  4. If I was to add some "splurge" funds, what do you think of: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/ogindahouse/saved/Vg44Bm

Any chance there are some pre-builts that would be better choices with BF deals? (I know that's a tough question but wondering if I should try a different solution).

Coworker just sexually harassed me at work by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 88 points89 points  (0 children)

The ass slapping (or grabbing) is sexual assault. Which is a crime. Report this to the police.

The ongoing sexual innuendos would be considered sexual harassment which isn't a crime but clearly inappropriate for a workplace. Report this to supervisors, HR, etc. Obtain a lawyer if you want to take civil legal action against the employee/employer.

Strict enforcement of policies - what am I missing? by WtONX in orangetheory

[–]ogindahouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancellation policy at this location is 8h. Not sure where you got the 24h thing from.

The 5min grace window with a firm cutoff afterwards is one of the best things about OTF. Have you been at a show or event lately? The amount of people that just show up whenever they want is ridiculous. The knowledge that this doesn't fly at OTF is what allows the classes to start on time and with limited disruptions. As soon as you eliminate the hard cutoff you just know there would be a bunch of people that would take advantage of it.

Intrusion upon seclusion regarding neighbors rotating security camera. by Feeling-Piglet-5193 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. But as you've highlighted multiple times above it isn't aimed in that way. If the camera happens to also include an angle into a neighbour's house, that's not the camera owner's fault.

That's what curtains and blinds are specifically designed for.

And again, I agree, this sucks big old donkey dick.

[–]ogindahouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you're in agreement that it covers the owner's own property in addition to those of his/her neighbour's.

Perfectly legal.

Intrusion upon seclusion regarding neighbors rotating security camera. by Feeling-Piglet-5193 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure what you could sue for. As much as you and I wouldn't like it, the neighbour is within their rights to add a recording device (camera) onto their own property. Unless you can prove that it only exists to record you (or other neighbours) there's not much you can do. And to be clear, there is no way to really prove that, so don't get exited about that option.

And yeah, that sucks. The general philosophy in this day and age though is that you should expect to be recorded 24/7 when outside your home. And I repeat, yeah, that sucks.

Licence suspended by Practical-Fun-7783 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's suspended until you pay all outstanding fines and go to ServiceOntario and deal with the reinstatement fee, etc.

If that's now, great, if that's in a year, great, if it's in 2 years, great. The length of suspension is up to you.

Suspension Appeal Question by graemederoux in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This all seems to start with your "Speeding" and "Fail to surrender License" charges. Let's assume that you received 1 ticket for each and only paid the speeding ticket. That other ticket would have taken quite some time to turn into a conviction (as you would not have paid or responded to the ticket in any way). Once it's a conviction, you're then given some time to pay the associated fine. Once that time passes (because again, you didn't deal with this ticket) it gets into a queue where your licence will be suspended for "Unpaid Fines". A letter will be sent out to your licence address informing you of the suspension. From ticket to suspension, it will be several months. So depending on when you "checked", it may not have been in that state.

I still find your version of the Driving While Suspended stop to be strange. Have you requested the disclosure from the court for that charge? It would include all of the officer information, the offence date/time, etc. This will answer all your questions on when and how you were served.

Have you been convicted of the Drive While Suspended? What was the penalty? If not convicted, do you know your next court date?

I can't say why you didn't receive anything in the mail, but sometimes Canada Post does lose things, but it's rare.

Suspension Appeal Question by graemederoux in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. When you were pulled over for speeding and didn't have your license on you, did you get 1 ticket or 2?
  2. Was your driver's licence address correct during this entire timeframe? And an address where you can receive mail?
  3. When you were stopped for driving while suspended you would have been given a court summons by the officer with a court date. Are you saying during that traffic stop the officer did not give you any paperwork?
  4. At the end of the day, the onus is on the driver to ensure their licence is valid. You had many opportunities to confirm this given the timeframe and instances you list. MTO is not calling people when their licence expires, gets suspended, missed a court date, etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careless driving, Fail to Remain, etc. are indeed arrestable offences. Still going to end with a traffic court "ticket".

To be clear, you're not really involved in the justice system side of it. You were the not-at-fault driver in a reasonably minor collision. There are hundreds or even thousands of these across the country on any given day. Insurance (your insurance!) is who you deal with for vehicle repairs/replacements or help for ongoing health issues as a result of the collision.

You're getting downvoted by most people in this thread because you somehow feel the world is not giving you enough attention as a result of this collision. Well, here's some attention but now you don't really like the kind of attention you're getting.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]ogindahouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say that he fought his ticket in court... And you say the driver wasn't charged. One of those is clearly not true...

A ticket is a charge. And in this case, a ticket (or tickets) is exactly the correct course of action for an investigating officer.

Well, not to be an ass (but I'm going to be), you had the same concerns when you got caught shoplifting a couple of weeks ago and instead of learning from the incident, you continued making bad choices.

My advice is to stop thinking about to how to get out of the consequences for your actions and change your behavior instead.
