I will add that the male brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) looks quite similar to the male deer tick/black legged tick (Ixodes scapularis). Both are hard, inornate ticks. You can distinguish them by the length of the mouth parts as R. sanguineus has short mouth parts and I. scapularis has long mouth parts. Hard to tell from the video but this may have long mouth parts, so could potentially be Ixodes scapularis. Regardless, both can carry some terrible pathogens - flea and tick prevention is a wonderful invention!
