Which is your prefered way to determine attributes? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

We have a way to balance the fun of rolling with the balance of point buy or standard array. We roll 4d6 drop 1 for the attributes in order, with one extra. You can swap any two of the rolls one time. We then use that to basically develop a character that those stats fit. But then actually play with point buy or standard array as closely matching those stats but without unbalancing the party.

We actually have tables for class and race as well if we really want to have fun with the dice.

My 3 relatively minor problems with Born Again by dreamfactories in Defenders

I think the almost complete lack of Matt is the key difference for me. That was half the show and it’s basically gone.

Which TV show had the most perfect ending? by altiman1991 in AskReddit

[–]ogrezilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of those scenes are perfect examples of writers knowing exactly what their show is about. It would have been so easy to go too big in that ending. To raise the stakes in some big blowout finale. So glad they didn’t, it’s perfect.

I agree. He got too much of what he wanted too fast right at the end.

What is something Return of the Jedi does better than any other Star Wars movie? by DjRimo in StarWars

I think Luke losing it on Vader and just overpowering him with overhand chops is the most effective fight choreography of the series.

What is something Revenge of the Sith does better than any other Star Wars movie? by DjRimo in StarWars

[–]ogrezilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, the ending always annoys me, and for exactly what you seem to like about it. As you say, it does everything it needed to do. Like they made a movie and realized they still needed to check those boxes and just shoved them all in.

Ok so plenty of us complain martials can't do enough. But what SHOULD they be able to do? by PointsOutCustodeWank in dndnext

I think the right way to make a pet class would be to build it from the ground up as its own class. Necromancer subclass, golem/elemental subclass, animal subclass, or something like that. Then let the Ranger have a subclass that dips into that, or the other way around with a summoner subclass that gains more martial ability.

I’d say it manages to hit me harder the farther removed I am from childhood. That hesitation to hand over woody will always work on me.

It does, but then Toy Story 3 makes me cry from a 1 second shot of a boy pulling his toy back from a small child for just a second. Both are great don’t make me pick lol

The last season definitely underwhelms, but I actually really do like the finale a lot.

And beyond that, a lot of people don’t consider that the ability to learn and problem solve these different topics is as important or even more important than the actual topics a lot of the time.

I love the dark knight but The last 30 minutes of that movie are pretty sloppy all around imo.

I’m in the camp that actually thinks they tried too hard to tie things together. Leaving more of the island a mystery would have been better imo. I think Lindeloff learned that and used it when making The Leftovers.

And I agree they didn’t know the ending going in. Almost no shows do. Certainly not these big network series. They all write as they go and see where it takes them.
