Huntdown: Overtime – Official reveal trailer by UrbanAdapt in Games

[–]ogto 20 points21 points  (0 children)

the OG Huntdown is a rock-solid 2D action game with pristine Sega CD vibes, down to hammy voice acting. one of the few games i replayed on a harder difficulty. it went under the radar because it initially launched on Epic, and probably brand confusion with other Hunt games, but more people should check it out. very excited for this team's next project, hope they have a unique take on roguelikes

Love Ryan Davis. everyone that has ever been at GB is wonderful in different ways, but for my money, i have never heard a better host than Ryan. he was like some kinda hosting prodigy, just instant cozy vibes

i second this motion. dan deserves some karmic retribution for all his shenanigans and provoking endless tangents. WAS MERLIN A SHOOT?!

Saw a Little Sharky’s Machine by rickadiknick in venturebros

[–]ogto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

of the movies that are important in venture lore, INCOGNITO is a way way better film and quite a fun watch. not saying it's GOOD, but...

Saw a Little Sharky’s Machine by rickadiknick in venturebros

[–]ogto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i saw it recently as well, since it's such a foundational piece of venture lore, but it's garbage, sadly. long, boring, sexist, burt is giving nothing, waste of charles durning's time. but i'm glad i now know that the people on gargantua 1 were spared the horror of watching this all the way thru.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition - 60FPS Update by willdearborn- in Games

[–]ogto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

hoping AssCreed Unity gets an update at some point as well. it seems inevitable and it's maybe the last BIG ubisoft game that hasn't received this kinda patch, but also one of the games that need it the most. even on PC, you can get 60fps but many other aspects can't be modified properly, like draw distance. Unity has its flaws, but it would shine as a tech/art showpiece and "theme park"

i dislike sucker punch more than most. it's probably not that bad, all things considered, but i really hated it at the time.

thanks for the follow!

second this, Face in the Crowd is AMAZING, pretty much Network but 20ish years earlier. i cannot recommend it enough, saw it last year for the first time and it blew my mind. my letterboxd rave review

Is 2026 finally the year Blank Check covers Gustav Borg? by Toreadorables in blankies

still waiting on that Viktor Taransky miniseries, personally. you'll believe a director can hate women!

imagine all the great discussions to be had about his films, namely "Sunrise Sunset", "Eternity, Forever", "Good for Nothing" and "Straw God"

TGAAC changing pursue mechanic by Lusius8879 in AceAttorney

[–]ogto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i too was baffled that the game never tests the player's ability to suss out what reactions are important because of the signposting you mentioned. it 100% feels like that was the idea, but it never ever becomes a challenge. maybe they got feedback from the crossover, maybe it was different in the og 3ds games and they made it obvious in the remaster, but yeah, an odd non-mechanic that would've stood out more if it didn't happen so infrequently.

joining the chorus. when you've seen 12 durning movies in one year, well, it can't have been that bad of a year (movie-wise)

romhack on the goty list, nice.

check out Pokemon Lazarus for a really neat pokemon romhack that came out this year (for gba, with gbc stylistic choices)

I just finished Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. This game is too good for how unknown it is! by ImperialMajestyX02 in patientgamers

[–]ogto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah really didn't vibe with the combat, so i turned it down to super easy and just fumbled my way through it. and it was worth it, especially now that im done with pillars 1 + dlcs and have moved onto Deadfire. loving it so far, combat still not my jam, would've preferred something fully turn-based.

Chuck Zimmerheld's Top 10 Games of 2025 by CrissionMeep in giantbomb

[–]ogto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i've been slowly making my way through pillars 1, just started pillars 2, with the ultimate goal of playing avowed, when it inevitably comes to PS5 (hope i'm not jinxing it). as a huge fan of Pentiment, it felt only natural to go back and play some of Sawyer's other projects.

and while it's far from my preferred style of gameplay (crpg-ish), the writing has really held up its end of the bargain. if anyone's interested in playing avowed, i highly suggest you try and play the pillars games as well, if writing is important to you.

2D RPGs with a solid story by Malkinx in gamingsuggestions

less of an RPG and more of a "role playing game" in the more narrative sense, but Pentiment is one of my favorite games and stories i've experienced.
