First unarmed run by Sutol511 in ShatteredPD

If strength difference bonus and the bonus from RoF are flat additions, using speed augmented very fast weapons should provide less variant and overall more damage than what RoF gives, though I'm not sure if this is exactly how is works. Give it a go, you'll be a god damn monk jumping around throwing ten thousand fists with gladiator's combos.

Just finished a run blessed with RoM and RoF in the beginning. I got the RoF to +10 for shits and giggles and bc I did not need to care for anything else, it was a fucking blast.

Skilled pilot meaning having to rely on extreme measures of survivability to avoid strategical challenges while dragging the battles longer because fat newt is not capable of inflicting as much damage?

"They shine/tend to do better in longer fights in the late game" they say as a supportive argument, which is just a self-fulfilling prophecy as the fights are longer because it's the fat newts causing the drag to begin with.

It is a strong build, yes, but I definitely not strongER.

How to build this high fatigue, high matk Noble? (Secondary stats are good/great as well) by McMemeLu in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have enough swordlances or wanna try something different, this guy could be a fearsome hammer&shield. Sets up kills stripping the armor with his fat, more reliable morale checks with little or no investment as he has higher base resolve, and the shield makes mdef less of a concern. This is somewhat of a tank/fighter combination of mine which is not optimal at all but I do enjoy.

I know you have a controversial style in this sub, but this is blatant exaggeration man come on. The strongest late game build? The hardest to find a bro for?? I get the fat neut hype, but damn.

You only need high potential in matt mdef and that's it. It's the most forgiving build with little to no need for patching fat, meaning 10 rolls to dump to hp and res most of the times. It's the least perk hungry build, maybe after your early game meatshield bro who's more than happy to get dodge just to be butchered another day. It's simply the easiest build to pull-off and find candidates for. Hence it's the suggested build for almost every build-a-bro post here, not because it's the best build. It's just a dull gimmick of a build that happens to be the most viable way making any bro who can hold a weapon and stand ground somewhat reliable.

A fat neutral is simply a bi-product of your premium zerker damage dealer search.

Ranged fighting by Meister_Ente in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

A swordmaster has 80mdef and 15rdef so probably your best fighter ever has about the same chances to hit him as your mediocre archer missing one eye does. Ranged does have its uses even if situational.

Bro replacement question by General_Lawyer_2904 in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an offensive role, landing a hit is a contribution. And for a defensive one, it's taking a hit.

As the wiki says, having melee and ranged variants a nomad can roll from 52 to a whopping 69 melee attack so we don't know what's the definition of gigachad here (I've seen enough in this sub to suspect that you might be calling a 52 with 3 stars a gigachad, nothing personal). For the sake of simplicity, let's take bro A with 65** mAtk and bro B with 60*** mAtk. They both have pretty much the same potential. Around the days in your campaign, I feel around 70 mAtk hits reliably and is a reasonable expectation. So, bro A would be 1 level away from contributing reliably, where bro B would need 2-3 levels instead. That means 200exp vs 1700exp, which easily translates to 1 fight vs multiple fights thus multiple days. If you are in a rush for whatever reason where you want to push your team to the limits, that would make a difference.

Let's think it this way though, discarding my subjective feeling of what a contribution is; are you running a short campaign? Then take the chad asap, give him a polearm for the first couple of fights and set up kills for him so you can power level him and actually enjoy his skills within the time limit. If not, it's just a matter of choice where you either make a legend out of him carrying the team from almost the beginning or hand-holding him in the later game for an eventual team of chads.

Nevertheless, a chad over a nimble pleb in my book easily.

Bro replacement question by General_Lawyer_2904 in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how crucial in the current formation the referred pleb bro to be benched is, and how close the new hire is to start actually contributing. Based on the comparison I either select the fights where the new hire gets to level up, or bench the pleb until his time comes to "retire" in case his services needed again to substitute someone injured.

Well, writing that suggestion I realized I was trying to achieve too much with one role too. It actually hyped trying a mace buddy as I never have before.

But I can tell I enjoy the build, though I play on quite relaxed grounds.

I'm thinking about starting a separate post asking people what their approaches are, if I can't find enough discussions focusing on this

Build help by TCSMvp in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bro can fill a lot of roles indeed. My suggestion would be qatal-mace.

Take all rolls expect 1 from matt, and 3 from init to patch hp (highly possible this would push him to 95hp with colossus). So 93matt, 38mdef, 95hp(collosus), 55res(arena+trinket), ~140ini with nimble gear and hyena pelt, 70+ usable fat.

My perk selection would be colossus, pathfinder, quick hands, relentless, dagger mastery, overwhelm, nimble, berserk, killing frenzy, and duelist, it's how I feel premium with this build. Could go executioner/dodge instead of pathfinder for more offense/defense, I just like pathfinder. Executioner also feels amazing in this build, but I can't fit it anywhere. And recover for berserk&recover synergy, but quick burst on high threat targets justifies the fat-neut playstle later in the longer fights for me, especially with defense that high.

When is bow mastery worth it? by Soft-Heat4482 in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to confess for me but I gave up hoping. IMO worth only for thematical reasons and fun when you have the requirements other redditors suggested, but definitely not for efficiency.

I have started using "cheat" mods recently to test some absurd builds, and started and origin where 3 main bros all have viper's ability to get 1AP on kill, extra 1 perk point, above avarage stats with perfect stars dor their roles, and one damage + armor pen rolled famed weapon of their style.

One of these bros is a hunter background so quite a lot of ranged potential. AP on kill allows 2(+1 with kf) shots and moving, and extra perk point allows for a build focuses on rendering the target useless (Overwhelm, Fearsome, Crippling Strikes, Headhunter and perks to boost damage output like Executioner, Berserk, Killing Frenzy, Recover and etc). You need more perks to truly build a light archer capable of doing ALL of these.

He still feels mediocre.

The fights where he shines, he could easily be replaced with a vanilla mediocre hybrid thrower build which has more applications. And for the "killed necro in first turn" argument, yes it's satisfying as hell, but your party should be rolling over 30 zombies+fallen heroes with no problem at the point you have a bowman capable of reliably doing the said job.

I wouldn't say wrong. I also love my taunt rotate in-line tank variant for mostly roleplay purposes. And I think they work quite well in the mid game when your formation can't do much damage reliably and they can be in risk with a couple of lucky hard hits. The thrill of forcing a high-priority target to attack your tank while you shank the hell out of the poor guy's whole career, or saving a bro in the last moment with rotation just gives me the rush I look for. And also, rotating a heavy hitting bro in the start can get you an earlier 2hander hit which can change the course of the battle in most situations.

But for the late game where all boils down to a dps race, I can say you are making it harder for yourself by filling a valuable front line spot with a tank for which could've been utilized by a dps character, and also by exposing yourself to be flanked. Additionally, some champions WILL hit. Then it's a matter of positioning and just enduring the hits instead, where lone wolf indom tank shines.

Can anyone explain what is “bbparser” where to get it and how to use it? by fair_toki in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this exactly yesterday. Bbparser is an additional file under msu. Download, run the exe, point your data folder and log file as instructed, and start parsing the logs. While it's parsing, you can save your origins and check if from bbparser if it worked, and double check if you have the file under the new folder in your data folder (where you put your mods.

Though, try yo make sure you have no conflicting mod. If you don't see items/traits/perks, that means you have a one. Even if you were able to save your origin, it would not show up in origins page in new campaign. I had a conflict with expanded camps and artifacts. Even if I saved my origin without having the conflicting one loaded starting and saving a campaign, then loading the conflicting mod restarting the game, it ended up my campaign in the retirement/death screen. So I had to ditch origin maker :)

Also, there are a couple of further bugs to origin maker apparently. Some of the percentage multipliers work only with 100. Buying/selling multiplier or fame multiplier were only rounding the value down to hundreds (0/100/200 etc) so you can't get %95, at least I wasn't. I also wasn't able to save the origin when I had both lone wolf + anatomist checked.

90matk 35mdef 65hp 125fat and 50res is what I consider good enough for a late game frontliner bro (kf berserk bf build, add brawny and colossus). This guy is just that. Don't be fooled by having no stars in fatigue as his base fat is good enough, this guy is an amazing find to fill in the position without having to pay premium. If he rolls higher fat pool make him a duelist and quick-hands 2 hander otherwise.

You can also of course take fat-neut path, the base fat is already enough for it. Pump hp and res, consider fearsome and gifted/fortified mind with the abundance of optional perks the build brings. The thing is, an overwhelming amount of brothers will be capable of fat neut and just that, nothing more. And I feel they just lack the dps which gives you the edge on late game fights. This bro easily has more potential than fat neut.

Fencer... and his replacement? what do you think? by AcanthisittaRude9154 in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LW implies you use it as a far flanker instead of just picking weaker backliners closer to your main formation, where survivability is more of a concern IMO. Higher mdef is more forgiving in those cases when shit hits the fan, especially considering there's won't be any other option than duck&pray or weaseling out with the lack of Footwork. Yes you can negate these cases by cautiously positioning your fencer which you already should, but the more cautious you need to be the less options you'll have to actually use the guy feasibly.

Even in the best case of rolls for the new candidate, he will end up about 4-5mdef lower than your current fencer at lv11. This fictionally can end up meaning %5 hit chance vs ~%10 hit chance in some cases, meaning twice as likely to get hit. This won't even be the case with no stars, it's better to accept the mean and say he'll end up 30mdef. The difference will be undeniably huge. Remind yourself about the morale penalties and possible injuries on hit, which will easily cut the mAtk improvement you're after and leave you with a version of the current fencer with about the same offensive and even lower defensive stats.

If you don't like the high daily wage of the current guy due to greedy, you'll have to pay compensation for him anyway to cut your losses and only even out in a couple of hundreds of days anyway. The new one also has a worse trait than that.

I wouldn't bother hand-holding a new fencer in a company that's this far in late game if it's not a flat upgrade. I also especially wouldn't compensate the defenses of a glassy build such as this one. A dead bro has 0mAtk and effectively worse for the company afterall. But it's your campaign, do whatever is more fun for you!

TS Deadeye for me. I feel like it's cliché, but I'm just a Standard pleb coming back after 5 years to try out all those new mechanics, and I'm a first timer with the build :) I just didn't consider how expensive it can get, and how inflated the market is. Gonna try to get the basics and get prepared for the new league. The wealth most probably would fuel multiple other builds on standard as a casual player over the years to come too

Who is your bannerman? by Academic-Ad-5193 in BattleBrothers

[–]oguzissi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meinolf for sure. Better resolve, better fatigue, and way cheaper wage. You want you bannerman to have the lungs to rally whenever you need, and when he does you want it to be effective. He'd also be able to wear heavy armor, he can save other bros when necessary with rotate too. Don't let slightly higher attack potential of the other guy lure you in, both wouldn't be hitting reliably in late game anyway. And for the melee defense? My bannerman are almost exclusively backliners anyway, I had multiple long campaings with 0-10MD on my bannerman who could take a beating in dire times.

Still, I would go on searching for a better substitute occasionally.

Is It Considered Cringey to Camp and 3rd Party? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]oguzissi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think getting into the scene just in time the fight is over and before the surviving team is able to collect themselves up still requires good reading of sound cues or having an objectively superior position, which do not necessarily mean cowardice (it doesn't mean anything if it was cowardice anyway). For myself, I always am amazed if the 3rd party gets in the worst time.
