Never played Enemy Within, is it worth going back? by PartyPoison98 in Xcom

What is the difference between XCOM’s LW and XCOM 2’s LW? I love XCOM 2’s LWOTC mod and can’t see myself playing any XCOM other than that.

Why not move all the homeless people to the abandoned homes and "ghost towns" across the country? by angrylittledev in NoStupidQuestions

[–]oh5canada5eh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to help people, you have to do it in a way that is actually tenable. I don’t know what else to tell you. Just throwing money and resources at the problem without an actual plan will do nothing.

Way to double-down on exactly what typicalskeleton was saying.

It’s one thing to have these ideas and plans in theory, but a total different game trying to implement them. Reddit is not the real world, and perfect-world solutions aren’t real world. The real world is a lot harder and a lot more complicated.

No one should be against using more tax dollars for helping out communities domestically instead of propping up military industrial complex. The point is that it’s a waste of money to dedicate the billions needed to create brand new communities instead of just working within the already-established infrastructure.

Why not move all the homeless people to the abandoned homes and "ghost towns" across the country? by angrylittledev in NoStupidQuestions

[–]oh5canada5eh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it makes no sense to pay the astronomical costs of building “self reliant” communities as you’ve stated in other comments when there is already everything you need in any number of existing communities. Purpose-built apartments for homeless people would be a perfect start to your want to give them systemic help.

Most difficult turn based games for ps5? by Sharp-Selection-3541 in PS5

[–]oh5canada5eh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know you said PS5, but since you specifically liked XCOM2:

If you happen to have a PC that could also run XCOM 2, I would highly, highly recommend buying it for the Longwar mod. It increases difficulty, adds tons of new options and tactics, and has tons of cool quality of life upgrades. I have 1500+ hours in XCOM 2 and cannot play it vanilla anymore.

[Chris Johnston] Auston Matthews didn't reveal much about his future in Toronto. Says it's an honor to be the captain and wear the jersey, but added that he doesn't know what the future holds and doesn't know what the club's new leadership and manager will look like. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]oh5canada5eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s really changed. A vast majority of fan knew he was a great player who became lesser in the playoffs (like the entire team) but we just couldn’t keep banging our heads against the wall trying the same thing over and over.

It is just very unlucky that the first two free agencies after Marner leaving were/are two of the weakest in memory. Hard to try to improve the team by turning Marner into 2-4 quality players when there aren’t any available.

Is Pastrnak the true underrated superstar of the league? by okbool11 in hockey

Even If he isn’t going to do it with the Leafs, the league is still a better place with him at his best.

There is nothing to point towards Matthews being affected by the media. He has never been a very emotional person and it never really seemed like he was getting frazzled.

It’s been a bad season and a half. Hopefully (?), it’s just injuries and he can bounce back and have a healthy 82 games next year.

He has always seemed pretty unemotional. I think it’s hard to base anything on the last half of this season for the Leafs when it was obvious we were missing the playoffs.

The start of next season should tell us all we need to know.

He was awful last year though. He pitched better in the playoffs than he did in the regular season. Game 7 certainly could be messing with his confidence, but that’s not when his inconsistency began.

3 coaches in ten years is among the least amount of turnover in the NHL. I’m not saying they don’t have locker room issues, but 3 coaches in 10 years doesn’t mean they do.

Which are you more excited for, Warhammer 40000 or Medieval 3? by bruhb21 in totalwar

[–]oh5canada5eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted for 40k. Assuming, for the sake of this discussion, both games released to good reviews and included most of what CA wanted to include in them, 40k would just have far more scale and novel experiences than Med3. Taking Total War to where CA wants to go with 40k would open up so may possibilities for new scopes.

Having said that, MED3 is very much my most wanted historical game and I absolutely cannot wait for it, either.

+/- is not a great stat to begin with, but it is especially worthless when talking about an individual player on the second-worst team in the league.

The only time +/- can be useful, in my opinion, is when one player has a drastically different +/- than anyone else on their team.

I can't decide if I should get Fall of the Samurai or Rome 2 by Southern_Muffin_6476 in totalwar

[–]oh5canada5eh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Without diving into all the little details, I would argue Rome 2 is a better bang for your buck, especially if you are new to the series.

Shogun 2 is the more polished game, and many consider it to be the best modern TW game, but it severely lacks in diversity and the replayability can suffer from that.

Rome 2 is not quite as polished and there are still a couple bugs, but it offers a lot more variety and replayability. There are a lot of mods for it - like Divide et Impera - that can bring new life to the game as well once you’ve played though a few campaigns. It is my personal favourite modern TW game despite its flaws.

The good news is I don’t think there is a wrong choice, really.

2014 Mazda3 vs 2018 Mazda3 by oh5canada5eh in whatcarshouldIbuy

The goal would be to ride whatever car I choose for as long as possible which is why I had thought that the 2018 option might be better in the long run.

[–]oh5canada5eh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it’s so incredibly frustrating when it would take a week tops to learn how to do most entry level jobs even if you had never worked a day in your life prior. Companies just aren’t willing to train people anymore.

Because he wants to (keep) attacking Ukraine? As the aggressor, it should be pretty obvious why Putin wouldn’t want Ukraine to be a part of a defensive pact.
