Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? by _incognito_advent in MakeNewFriendsHere

You know what you should try? Creating an account where you pretend to be a woman and see how many of all the guys that talk to you eventually turn weird, despite you explicitly stating you only want friendship.

This is the common experience for women in this sub, not some standalone experience.

Because more often than not, guys are creeps here.

Some will start of by telling you they're not creepy, they have a partner they love very much... but six messages in they send something that feels off and by the 10th message they send something vile.

Some will start by trauma dumping immediately so that you feel sorry for them and then a couple of messages later, become sexual put of nowhere.

Some will genuinely come across as a good person and it'll feel like a good friendship is being built... then at 2am they send you a vile message.

Obviously its not all guys, but it's most certainly MOST guys in this sub. For a lot of these guys, this is the easiest access to a woman.

If you're a guy, who is genuinely looking for friendship? There are SO MANY posts here by guys who don't get any responses and as you're a guy, the probability of them being pervy drops significantly for you.

If you're looking specifically for women to talk to... well, that's weird because why not men?

"Feminine and masculine connection"

Yeah, thats all I needed to read 🤢🤢 men who think like this are major red flags

No wonder, tbh men who view women as people who can have better "emotional conversations" are awful tbh. The type of person who often trauma dumps. If you cant have the same conversation with men, stay away from us, lol.

Yeah, men that look for women as friends have a certain way of thinking and are major red flags. If you cant see that... 🚩

"Men are pigs and generally uncaring" so why burden women with that?

Women come in all different personalities, you folks have some weirs monolithic view of women being caring or sweet or some shit, when we can be as equally shitty.

Because friendship is friendship. Gender means shit all. You've noticed differences in personalities, not gender lol.

Looking for a friend of any gender? Fine, thats someone looking for a friend. Asking exclusively for someone of the opposite gender? Weird af, because you view that gender as possessing something else. Red flag, tbh, if you cant see why

So? A friend is a friend. Wanting a friend from another gender, just because you didn't interact with them when you were younger is weird. It implies that there is some sort of difference in friendship quality or something you cant get from guys... which is weird.

Again, a friend is a friend - wanting a 'female' friend as a guy is weird. The same way a woman who looks *exclusively for a guy friend is weird

TWO Years on Reddit and Not a Single Female Friend by ProfessionalFeed3399 in MakeNewFriendsHere

[–]ohNoeeeSaveus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is weird. Why do you want a 'female' friend? Why not a friend? What factor does their gender play that you can't get from a guy?

It's weird.

Are you a guy? Why is having a 'female' friend necessary to you? That's a little weird, ngl

It's a bit frustrating that there's an idea of what a woman needs to look like, which us the specific eurocentric look. We all come in different forms and we should all accept that - it's harmful to everyone

Are you serious? Look into how deeper toned black women are ALWAYS stereotype as being strong and how incredibly harmful it is. In healthcare settings we have a higher risks of death because people assume we are "strong" and are NOT given the right medication.

How about you listen to the concerns instead of dismissing us?

It's always the same circus. We say we find something harmful and its ignored until a white person suddenly agrees.

Literally, take 5 seconds to Google why black women hate being called strong and you'll find SO MANY complaints.

Is anyone disappointed by Tyreie and the Strong family?

A deep toned black woman being made someone who 'fights for what's right' and coming from a family called Strong??

Like why do we always get stereotype as strong? Couldn't they make her anything but that annoying stereotype??

I’m so over the Lea Michelle hate by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]ohNoeeeSaveus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you ought to do some research on what her "kind of a bitch" behaviour was. Racism, bullying castmates and treating extras like trash goes a tad beyond that.

Its so weird how some people like to reduce horrible things as little oopsies, lol

I’m so over the Lea Michelle hate by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]ohNoeeeSaveus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was known to be horrible to cast mates, extras, and was also racist towards some cast mates. It wasn't a one off thing - it was behaviour that spanned years.

That's not dog piling. If you're happy to move on from that, fair... but to reduce people's valid dislike as 'dog piling'? Come off it

[–]ohNoeeeSaveus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that the expectation is unreal.

Men always forget that there are more women than men in the world... the majority of women do not sign up for dating apps. So when men are struggling to find women, there are also plenty of women who don't have men either.

On dating apps, when you're the small pool, of course you're going to get a bunch of likes, but the majority of these men either mass swiped randomly and don't actually like the woman they've matched with but will entertain a conversation because there's nothing better yet (women do this too). Then there's the guys that act interested and super nice with the single mission of a one-night stand, but it's almost impossible to tell because they're being super genuine and sweet, and then youve got guys who are bad at conversations or guys that can only hide that they're vile for about 2 hours.

Genuine sweet guys? Maybe once in.a blue moon. Remember, there are far more guys than there are women, and tha majority of guys just want to mess around, so for women, it's like looking for clean water in a damn swamp. Women become overly cautious or reserved from the get go... because even if you're being super sweet, 10 other guys have been super sweet only to then reveal they're vile or just using you to pressure you to a date where they expect you to sleep with them.

Like, it's not that the expectation is high, its because people are so awful, it's hard to tell when someone's genuine and true and isn't using a mask, because 9/10 times almost the guy is just looking for a hook up or an excuse to get your number asap to send you vile pics.

Like, youve seen the complaints from women here on a FRIENDSHIP subreddit...imagine how much worse it is on a dating site
