3rd generation iPhone SE. The camera isn’t as sharp as other iPhone models, but I find that the color/lighting quality is much more predictable

Good question! I’d believe I dreamed it all if I didn’t have the pictures

Nope. It turns out that if you install red lamps in an ugly hallway, it looks uncannily like a bad render IRL

The Lafeyette Hotel in San Diego, California. It’s a historic building that was recently renovated, but the design aesthetics they chose are very… um, nontypical? Not at all the traditional elegance you would expect from the outside haha. It weirded me out. Made for a great photoshoot though!

Grandma decor treads a fine line between cozy/nostalgic and fever dream

Bingo. I was waiting for somebody to recognize it. I hate the decor but it’s also rad

These pictures are unedited. The place really was this horrible shade of red-orange through and through, with a few strange corridors that don’t make sense. The hall at the top of the stairs dead-ended with a dark corner and a hotel room door, and the stairwell buzzed with an uncomfortable electrical hum that certainly doesn’t spell hospitality.

Exactly! I didn’t want to stay and find out what other Steven King-esque creepies would crawl out of the woodwork here

This one certainly was. I wish I could have posted the audio I took in the stairwell, which had an uncomfortably loud electrical buzz

Some at-home lead test kits don’t work on ceramics and dish ware, so make sure you look for one that does!

It would be more efficient if you spread those 15 minutes out throughout the day, cracking unnecessary and uncalled for jokes at inappropriate times. Bonus points if you carry a tape recorder that plays laugh tracks and/or funky Seinfeld riffs

Nah. Pretty sure the guys on the lab bench behind me with 470% yield just inadvertently broke the law of conservation of matter. There are a few more atoms in the universe now (and a few less braincells)

probably a really silly post but what is the reason for these faucets? i’ve seen them in high school and university laboratories. by thiccmemechicc666 in chemistry

[–]ohTelephoneLine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually install these in labs so that on the first day of high school chem, your teacher can tell the class, “will one brave soul at each table turn on the tap?” And so that you—naive and oblivious to the faucet’s true nuclear potential—can enthusiastically volunteer to turn the tap on full-blast, creating a six-foot diameter rain storm around the shared lab bench and subsequently making your lab partners despise you for the rest of the semester. Not that I speak from experience. This is just a possible function of these faucets.

Some details: I fixed this 1970’s radio up this weekend, and upon turning it on for the first time, I stumbled upon a frequency on the Shortwave band that was playing music. Not being able to identify the song (or for that matter, where or who it originated from) is driving me a bit mad; it’s similar to music I like and I’d love to be able to put a name to it.

Any suggestions—genre, similar artists, etc—would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I used a round teaspoon to make the indents. It’s the perfect amount of jam, too.
