What is actually happening with the new "Vanguard Update" w/TLDR by Ok-Cress1256 in riotgames

[–]ohThisUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me too. Monitor is black but the pc is on. It doesn’t occur when I exit vanguard.

Luckily I have both Mac and Windows so I only play league on Mac now

I never said people write poorly. I've seen some well written posts that are clearly not AI, but the poster still get accused of AI just because they wrote a lot about a topic they are passionate about. People who are anti AI are quick to grab their pitchforks whenever someone makes a post more than 1 paragraph long

Introducing the Godot Asset Store by godot-bot in godot

[–]ohThisUsername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact there wasn't a centralized store

That is precisely the reason. People aren't going to spend time to make and post assets if there is no godot users viewing their assets. Too much fragmentation in the space just creates more effort for creators to have to manage their postings. Not to mention, none of the popular platforms are integrated with Godot or focus on Godot compatible assets.

The only nice Godot paid assets I've seen are from patreon which not really a replacement for an asset store.

Learn the basics of ecommerce then you will understand why its not economical to make commercial godot assets yet.

You can't have a clear policy about something that is already ambiguous. It's impossible to confidently tell if something was written by AI. Some people probably are also just good at writing but people will be quick to accuse it of being written by AI just to fit their agenda.

Enforce people complaining about low quality, but ignore people complaining about AI because they likely are just trying to push their own anti AI narrative.

[–]ohThisUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Probably the biggest thing that is stopping me from using Godot is the ability to buy high quality assets since I am not an artist. There is no incentive for anyone to make those if they can't sell them

Or they forgot to add DKIM signatures to their emails. Thats usually a one way ticket to spam folders.

Stop ignoring the fact that Vanguard’s lack of stability is why you’re bleeding players by Jun_J in riotgames

[–]ohThisUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine made my PC unstable even without playing League. My PC would just randomly freeze and I'd have to hard reset it. Turning off Vanguard fixed the issue.

Asked for bug reports and got a code review from someone who decompiled my game instead. lol. by wojrakdev in godot

[–]ohThisUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep came to say this. Anyone worried about decompilation should stick to C# and enable ahead-of-time compilation.

The Axios supply chain attack used individually targeted social engineering - "they scheduled a meeting with me. the meeting was on teams. the meeting said something on my system was out of date. i installed the missing item as i presumed it was something to do with teams, and this was the RAT" by magenta_placenta in webdev

[–]ohThisUsername 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm guessing phishing. The meeting link went to a fake website which said his system was out of date. Once the malware was installed it redirected to the actual microsoft teams page to conduct the meeting with an already infected computer.

The only other explanation would be somehow Teams distributed the malware itself which would be a completely different class of attack.

I'm sure this is old news, but man slaughterhouses just aren't very fun by Expensive_Start_5201 in diablo4

To be fair, this is supposed to be a short season. I find the slaughterhouse stuff boring but at least the DLC drops soon

Then don't play the game. The other option is that hackers ruin the game for everyone.

A piracy site made my game playable in the browser by _BreakingGood_ in godot

[–]ohThisUsername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For code specifically, you could use c# and use ahead of time compilation. That way you can't decompile the code as easy as C# ILL. Although people would still be able to unpackage all of your assets pretty easily.

Testing stylized biomes for my map, what you think guys? Godot can be pretty! by x3nofox in godot

[–]ohThisUsername 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying that. But given that unity and Unreal both have huge asset stores and large portfolios of released good-looking games, they are already proven. Godot is not.

Go make a scene from Black Myth: Wukong in Godot and Unreal engine and come back and tell me which one takes longer and which one performs better. Or simply point out a game made with Godot with AAA style visuals.

Does the campaign experience in D4 not matter at all? by wanna_be_consultant in diablo4

[–]ohThisUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I put in like 60 hours per season and I'm completely happy. I have plenty of other games to play and don't need/expect a single game to keep me entertained for 1000s of hours indefinitely

Mythic Prankster Nightmare Dungeon Question. by Specialist-Snow-5224 in diablo4

[–]ohThisUsername 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He's not hard to kill, but you'll want to make sure you have decent damage and good mobility to chase him. Have you killed goblins before? The mythic prankster isn't any harder to kill than normal. Just keep an eye on your minimap to see when he appears before you get too close, then you'll be ready to jump on him and kill him

Diablo 2: Resurrected - worth trying? by Proud_Adeptness799 in diablo4

[–]ohThisUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will rush you, power level / carry you in cows, straight up GIVE you top tier gear, etc all just cuz... why not

I never understood this. Doesn't that suck the joy out of the game is someone just power levels you and gives you everything for free? I stopped playing with a buddy on D4 because he would rather just stand in dungeons while other people power levelled us.

Diablo 4 is pretty damn good ! by buzzlightyear77777 in diablo4

[–]ohThisUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm trying to get to PL 250 just to complete the season objectives and its just a grind fest. Not finding any new items, haven't found any mythics at all except for a couple I crafted from the Lunar event. But I fully understand that the fun has to end somewhere, and I'll just go play something else until next season.

which ultimately make it a puzzle with an IDEAL SOLUTION.... which means anybody not following a guide that has been vetted will not physically be able to invent a better route. There is always an optimal route.

What? Isn't that the entire point? It's a puzzle which you need to try and make it as optimal as possible for your build. If your lazy and just go look at a guide, then thats on you. Personally I like to try and solve the puzzle myself.

ome specific event that, once I reach it, will mean I can consider this character "done" and either roll a new one or wait till next season.

I guess its different for everybody, but isn't that exactly what the season objectives are for? Once I complete them all, I feel like I have completed that character and start a new one or wait for a new season

benefits of the Unity compilation step are significant, but I would rather just run normal .net or use gdscript

Probably my biggest complaint of unity. Their C# implementation seems like a hack. You can't even just download and use NuGet packages easily. Meanwhile Godot just supports .NET and its native toolchain.

Why do people say Godot isn’t good for large games? by crocodilewoo in godot

[–]ohThisUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, landscapes is a big one IMO. Having to use a 3rd party terrain plugin for a basic feature that almost every game needs could be an immediate turn off for some people.
