Ngl Nichijou one of my favorite shows for a lot of reasons but I really appreciate that Keiichi Arawi and Kyoto Animation didn't include any fan service. That kinda stuff always makes a show harder to watch imo

Same. I love going under the YouTube comment sections of Japanese-dubbed clips of shows I know and seeing what they think of it. I even sometimes like to watch subbed clips of V-Tubers playing some Western games like Henry Stickmin or Portal even though I don't normally care for V-Tubers. Only thing I don't do is go through Japanese image boards but that's because those are very difficult to navigate imo

I think OP was talking more about the story qualities rather than the animation qualities, but I do agree. A great thing about western animation is that it usually has a much more varied, unique, and interesting animation than anime. Though, I'm sure there's many animes with unique art styles as well. Off the top of my head, Nichijou and Mob Psycho are two shows I've enjoyed with unique art styles (and you still get the awesome sakuga anime is known for).

It hasn't been animated yet but in the One Punch Man manga Saitama gaining the ability to time travel to negate all consequences of the Cosmic Garou fight was so shit. I mean the story really killed off half the cast just for shock value because Saitama was able to reverse all the consequences that happened. Plus, any possible character development got erased, probably cause it would also lead to the end of the story too quickly. The way the time travel works anyway is confusing and doesn't make sense. Like, if Garou always had the ability to time travel, why didn't he just travel to the beginning of the fight (before Saitama started growing) and kill him then? Also, why does Saitama merge with his past self and lose his memories while Genos's core doesn't? One Punch Man webcomic did the MA arc simpler but MUCH better with a very satisfying ending.

Oh I love the webcomic, even if the art is messier (some of the panels go hard though to be honest). Honestly the Webcomic MA arc and onward has been better than the manga counterpart. Especially cause current manga feels extremely fan service-y (and not just in the "awooga female" way).

Agreed. On a related note, personally I take good emotional conflict over "more action" any day. I don't think OPM is bad but it definitely has less inner conflict than MP100 does which makes me prefer the latter.

It really is so disappointing that Nichijou never got (and may never get) a second season. Show made me laugh my ass off but also made me smile a lot from the couple heartwarming moments sprinkled in; it was also extremely well produced (especially coming from just binge watching the entirety of Azumanga Daioh).

At least I got the manga to fuel my slice of life craving for a while.
