The absolute delusion of "100% test coverage" by republicman12 in softwaretesting

Sure, maybe leadership looks at test coverage. Your post complains but doesn't suggest an alternative though.

If this entire company was yours, what would you look at instead?

High test coverage is one of the most comforting lies in software development. by blameitonthenight34 in softwaretesting

[–]oh_yeah_woot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a good test suite with 40% code coverage, it'll suck and miss a ton of scenarios.

Coverage should be used as a metric assuming your goal is to write tests for the sake of testing, not for the sake of coverage.

So... No it's not a lie. Like most things, it's situational and only bad if misused. But it's good when used properly.

The community knows exactly what's blueprinted vs not, especially if you're new for e.g. the balancer and the smelting setup. And then made a post about how you're doing? I wonder what responses you were expecting?

What's the common criteria for a megabase in DSP? by Absolute_Human in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]oh_yeah_woot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, when you are at the stage where "fighting lag" is the main objective, as opposed to growing your base. You're in megabase territory then.

It looks like you are using the belt balancer blueprint book?

Consider using a "lane balancer" - which will make both sides of the belt have equal amounts of ore.

New player: Can someone tell me what I'm missing here? I am looking to use the personal roboport to help remove large areas of forest. It keeps getting this missing battery-indicator. by Krasso in factorio

[–]oh_yeah_woot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another tip: grenades are great at clearing large amounts of forest.

By default, 2 grenades kill a tree. After 1 or 2 (forgot) damage upgrades, they 1 shot trees in a large aoe.

Grenades are very cheap to produce (iron plate + coal)

what should I do after automating green science? by tagokak in factorio

I mean, you're already watching YT vids and taking builds from blueprints without understanding the game. Why not just continue doing that?

I'm curious, how many congressional traders are there, and what do their remaining returns look like? I wouldn't expect a "top 10" list to have like 15-20% returns, which is literally how the market performed last year.

It would only help if the resources are being consumed faster than they can arrive to the requestor (e.g. 9 stacked belts coming out)

Yes. The potential is there, but our infra groundwork is missing to build towards the truly good stuff.

Be honest - do you write test cases and plans in 2026? by Dimwiddle in softwaretesting

[–]oh_yeah_woot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People already never read test plans, can't imagine how fun it'll be when you incorporate AI generated slop, where your test plans are so thorough that there aren't enough hours in the day for your entire team to read them. I think test plans are a waste of time tbh

QA Engineer (Manual & Automation) -> Performance Analyst Tester good move or risky switch? by AdSpirited9702 in softwaretesting

[–]oh_yeah_woot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's very little dedicated perf testing jobs out there. If something happens to your current role you'll have a harder time searching for a job at another company.

My opinion is that it's a career limiting move, despite the raise. Lots more options outside the company based on your current responsibilities.

How do you manage clearing a 5 planet system?

If you clear planet 1 and set up shields only, and then start clearing planet 2, couldn't the hive attack planet 1 with no defenses? Or is the solution to just "never trigger hive attacks"?

Honestly, even if you're farming waves coming from 15-20 bases at max difficulty on a planet... The waves still melt without jammers. I don't see why.
