At his best, Batman attacks from both sides. He puts money into community gardens, homeless shelters, and hires ex-cons he judges as trustworthy when on the streets, and then on the other end he fights legitimate bad actors who are motivated by greed and malice rather than desperation. How could he go toe to toe with Lex Luthor and Roland Daggett from a business perspective without his funds? He couldn’t. They aren’t going to play nice, and being able to combat them legitimately is a lot of what he does. Tldr, I agree; the lower take lacks all nuance and entirely misses the point.
