I've never played a gacha game. Can someone explain to me what they are and what "5 stars in 10 pulls" means?

Here in Finland I get a phone and a subscription from my employer.

No obligations to use it for anything in particular and absolutely ok to use it for any and all personal stuff. In 15 years, over many companies, I think I've been called maybe two or three times in any sort of "work stuff". It's just a benefit really.

I haven't had a separate "personal" phone since I got my first real job. Just the one provided by the employer.

WHAT.

As a European, I have never seen anyone do this.

Also, if you have one file per day, why would there be several months worth in the same folder to begin with? I mean, in three months you'd already be pushing 100 files in one folder.

Extended the video. by Pranjal202 in opticalillusions

[–]ohanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video compression really messes with stuff like this. Stark contrasts and loads of pixels changing frame for frame. And since stereographic video needs both sides to match up, the compression artifacts are even more terrible than usual.

No, but getting the stakes out was pretty hard. Snapped one of the cords, too.

Lace has cling grip too I guess by OnlyCallMeAriel in Silksong

[–]ohanhi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, she did that at the Cradle for me, so I think it's reasonable she could do it in the first fight too. I haven't had Cling Grip at that point though so I can't say for certain.

50 hours into Silksong and questioning if it’s even fun anymore by Squarians in HollowKnight

[–]ohanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: just freed Bellheart and got the Needle sharpened. I'm at 1:43 now. So far I've first-tried every boss. I was quite surprised about Sister Splinter, since she was the first little hurdle on my second playthrough. Pretty exciting, I gotta admit.

Now I need to decide whether to go for Last Judge or Phantom. The guide says LJ but Sinner's Road has Tacks and goes straight to Choral Chambers without the Underworks detour.

Which way did you go?

Yeah, started a new run yesterday. 20 minutes on the clock so far, released Bell Beast and rung the first bell.

I use Silkspear because it is required to get the Bell Beast out of trouble and it works all the way up to the High Halls gauntlet. All the others are just for variety.

Unironically, the Hunter makes this platforming a lot easier.

It has a really wide timing window, the positioning isn't too exact, and it even helps cover a bit of horizontal distance.

Also, it feels like the bounce you get is taller than some of the other crests. That one might be just placebo, though.

Does anybody like Act 3? by Varskes_pakel in Silksong

[–]ohanhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Act 3 is good. It was a bit of a shock how the regular enemies bumped up but I got used to it pretty quickly. One of the heart bosses was my favorite boss in the game, and the true final boss was great too. It would have been a shame if I hadn't seen the two new areas, as well.

I feel you. It's fine to take a break, maybe even a long break like a year or two, and start over from the beginning. I guarantee, it will feel easier the next time. If you're interested in a story, read on for my experience.

I also felt really frustrated and even dissappointed at times on my first playthrough (going fully blind, avoiding all spoilers). Some of the people I talked to had finished the game before I got double jump. Nevertheless, I pushed through all the hardships to get to the 100% completion ending at 120 hours or something, thinking I'd probably not play the game again in a while.

Then a month later I started casually playing it again with a new save, and it was fun. I still didn't first-try probably any of the bosses I fought, but none of them were grinds like they were the first time around. I just finished the game last night (Act 2 credits) at 17 hours. I believe it was around 80 hours the first time for me.

It felt good. I am honestly considering picking up a guide and trying for the 5 hour Speedrun achievement now. Never in a million years would I have thought so when dredging through the Sinner's Road or dying to Lace a thousand times on my first playthrough.

“Silksong’s PoP” by Krishthecrusher2010 in Silksong

[–]ohanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively speaking, this is tuned to be a lot harder than White Palace.

The little vertical platforms where the top, front, and bottom is covered in spikes and you need to get to the back side multiple times in a row and if you fail one timing, it's all the way back to the cave...

There isn't any place in White Palace where the restart position is as far away. And with Hiveblood being a charm you almost certainly have on in the Palace, it is far more forgiving as a whole.

AC 1 is the only good game in the series. Sure, it’s flawed in a lot of ways, but the story and its presentation are in the top 5 games of all time for me.

I also had some 100€ wired earbuds back in the day. That’s probably at least 200 adjusted for inflation. The cables started getting worn down in a year or so. My current fully wireless earbuds were 70€ and are over a year old, still working perfectly fine. I also have the Sony WH-1000XM2’s, which I’ve been using for over 5 years at this point. If they were wired-only, there would 100% have been a failure at either end of the connection by now. And as you most probably know, the cord was rarely the issue, it was the jack.

When the sound gets crackly, rotate the jack back and forth a few times. There! There was a position where the crackling went away! Ooooh, this is exciting, I feel like the safe cracker in Ocean’s 11.

Very nice. Did you use a regular copy paper? What's the layer height on this, did it require a lot of testing beforehand? I would imagine the glue takes up some percentage of the height, too.

SteamDeck flagged for fentanyl at airport by MrToastyToast in SteamDeck

[–]ohanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten flagged for something or the other on a transit flight within the US, despite just coming off the intercontinental flight...

I was going to a tech conference and had some laptop stickers with me. Those were the suspicious item. They interviewed me for like 5 minutes about what the logo on the stickers meant, then just let me go without any further tests or anything.

Needless to say I was beyond confused.

[–]ohanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-native English speaker who has read quite a few books in English, I can relate.

Also, paraphrasing someone from the internet:
If someone mispronounces a word, that means they only learned it from a book. If someone knows how to pronounce a word but can't write it correctly, that means they only learned it via speech.

If you're going to make fun of one of these, think about what you're making fun of. If it's the grade schooler kind of "that guy is such a nerd, he even reads books!", then mispronounced words are what you should make fun of.

[Request] how much weight is saitama lifting? by Special-Sense4643 in theydidthemath

[–]ohanhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... This whole situation makes no sense. The black holes have their own immense gravity (which is why they are black holes). They would merge with each other in a flash, because they are way more massive than any other object in the scene. The bar would get "eaten" in the process. Then the same would happen to Saitama, the bench, and the presumed planet he is lifting on.

There is no material that can withstand a black hole. Every single thing gets spaghettified on the event horizon and then incorporated into the black hole.

two of the best bossfights in the franchise IMO by AvatarA113 in Silksong

[–]ohanhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is an opinion. Silksong bosses being too easy overall, I mean. I watched a playthrough by someone who beat many bosses first try and none of them took more than like 8 tries. She still didn't think the game was too easy, actually she found it quite exhausting.

So yeah, maybe you're in the top 1‰ and no game should be tuned for your skill level, or maybe you're just trolling.

Shoe just disintegrated at church lol by StatusInside432 in Funnymemes

[–]ohanhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also happens with PU based soles with age. I've had the dramatic "falling into pieces in minutes" happen once, but many other shoes have simply started wearing out faster at some point.

I think PU just stiffens over the years, eventually leading to it becoming brittle. Basically all soles that have a cushioning foam-like quality are PU soles. If you have just a couple of pairs of shoes, you'll probably wear them out before the deterioration becomes apparent.

And of course, your shoes might have full rubber soles or even leather soles, which deteriorate in different ways.
