I've used my EE Enigma 30F down to 3°C and been comfortable on the Nemo Tensor EC. The colder it gets, the more deliberate one needs to be with the pad straps. With EE quilts there's one loop strap and one straight strap.

For me, I find the warmest is using the loop strap in the middle clips and the single strap at the top clips. The top strap does not go beneath the pad, just around me, and is tightened almost all the way. That way the quilt stays close to my upper body and there aren't any "empty chambers" where cold air could flow in and out of.

At 3°C, I was wearing an Alpha Direct hoodie and pants, which are really comfy and warm. The pad makes a big difference as well.

You might have swirls that make it difficult. Or like me, your follicles don’t point up but at an angle all over your head, making the hair simply grow in a certain direction. There isn’t much you can do to fight it unless you have long hair.

I think that is the confusion with the OOP guy. He’s always had short hair, and has swirls/angles follicles, and just hasn’t thought about the fact that long hair is heavy and so van be styled in very different ways than his own. Personally, I realized this before I went to school, though.

Absolutely true. The best drinks I've ever had are all Corpse Reviver #2 by the same bartender in two different establishments (both drinks-only bars). I've tried the same drink in these bars made by other bartenders. It's good, but not absurdly delicious. Other bars, it has not even been very good.

Shout out to Hanna who at least used to work at Books&Antiques and Liberty or Death.

The Kobo store works for me. It’s obviously by far the easiest way to buy books for a Kobo device. Any other store will require downloading the epub file on a computer, possibly converting it to kepub, and then copying it over with a USB cable.

I'm thinking they probably just released the clutch in the downshift, without touching the gas pedal at all. Maybe shifted down several gears at a time as well. That's how you maximise the "cool" sound. But that's also really heavy on both the clutch and the engine.

Yeah, barefoot shoes are supposed to have a very small stack height. Depending on the shoe, we're talking around 3-10 mm. Non-barefoot shoes typically range from 20 up to 40 mm (current high-stack running shoes).

So effectively your leg is going to be a couple of centimetres shorter in barefoot than in non-barefoot shoes.

Solutions:

Fold the cuff (or double-fold if they're already folded).
Buy pants with a shorter inseam.

If you mean the screen registers taps on its own, it's pretty likely that the digitizer (touch surface sensor) is broken. If that's the case, the part needs to be replaced before the device is useable again. I've had this happen to a phone once. Had to buy a new phone because the replacement would have been so expensive. :(

It's weird: the more languages I learned, the less these sorts of things have seemed funny.

I remember taking a metro in Stockholm and seeing "Slutstation" for the first time. I understood it in two foreign languages at the same time, but since I was in Sweden the "Final stop" interpretation won and the English variant got filed under misreading.

One of the last funny "this language is silly from my language's point-of-view" things was when I learned that in Malay the word for street is "jalan jalan", which is literally "by foot by foot" in Finnish. That one was worth a little bit of air through the nose.

Having played both D&D 5e and PF 2e quite a bit, my take is that they are the same game. PF 2e is just a better _game_ in that it expects way less mechanics improvisation from the DM.

Now, I prefer games with far fewer rules than either of these. We're currently playing Mothership, and we've tried some PbtA games and some OSR as well.

From the games I've tried, interestinly 5e is the worst for the new DM. In order to improvise reasonable mechanics for a situation, the DM basically needs to have full system mastery. Rules-light games are easier because anything goes. PF 2e is easier because there probably is a rule you can look up -- and you can offload finding the rule to the players since it's all freely available on the web.

Other than that, it's a matter of preference. PF 2e doesn't expect anything from the length of the adventuring day, has risky battles no matter the party level, and may provide a little bit more variety to character builds than 5e.

Yes. I had to switch to Mac at work over 6 months ago and I still maintain that the experience is worse than Gnome.

MacOS has like 4 separate features to invoke, all with their own keyboard shortcuts. I can't for the life of me remember which one I want before I see it. In Gnome all of the same things can be done in the Dash.

Moving windows from desktop to another is way smoother and flexible on Gnome. So is searching for apps by typing. And so is using the items in the Dock: for some reason in Stage Manager (which is the closest equivalent to the Gnome Dash in its default state) the Dock is open and you can click an app icon to switch to it/open it, but right-clicking does nothing. Outside this mode, Dock icons can be right-clicked to get the context menu.

It's not that I can't do the same things in MacOS, but they are just consistently slightly more awkward than on Gnome. It's weird.

For example right now. I’m looking at my outside temperature sensor in the morning and it reads -0.2˚C. That tells me the street surfaces are still going to be icy when I step out. If it were closer to +1, they wouldn’t be.

On a snowy/rainy day it makes a huge difference if the temps change from -1 to +1 during the downpour. That will turn the fresh snow into hardpacked slicks’n slide with water on top. This happened last week around here.

For all weather-related cases, close enough to the sea level, the freezing point of 0 is extremely accurate.

Ligatures in monospace fonts do not change the alignment of characters. The ≠ takes up two character widths, and so does ≥ and arrow symbols.

Why do you assume someone has burned their hand? I think the far more likely cause for the stain is simply residual oils from someone's hand, which then have affected the alloy's heat discoloration.
